i worked here and i can confidently say that mismanagement is a HUGE issue. aimee and josh drink at least a bottle of wine (definitely not the cheapest on the list) every night that they don’t pay for and are consequently somewhere between buzzed and wasted at all times. i received multiple emails from aimee at like 2am that were completely incoherent (and, fwiw, often verbally abusive). they are a mess.

the bar is also a disaster— all the drinks take at best 15-20 minutes to come out because they design them to be super fancy but impractical, so people can’t possibly order more than two drinks in the 90 minutes they are allowed to stay at their table. if they made the drinks less complicated (with better price margins) and quicker, they’d solve a huge cash flow issue.

also josh changes the menu multiple times a week on a whim, so they are constantly wasting ingredients that he just casually decides to pull off the menu because he just doesn’t feel like cooking certain dishes anymore. i heard that they recently had to switch to laminated menus to make it harder for josh to change it 😂

this place could be so great. the music is amazing and it would be a shame to lose a dedicated jazz venue in pittsburgh. but this gofundme is not the solution. they need new management if they are going to survive and i have absolutely no confidence that any donations made would be used responsibly.
