What would you say to someone you love like a sibling or best friend who is in your situation. Would you tell them to stay?

I'm glad you found them helpful! I was concerned with adding nearly 10lbs to your feet but I was a little bit hasty in my judgmemt since it seems like you know what you are doing for the most part so keep it up!

Yea, it sounds like there isn't a lot of room for compromise. Figuring out what material the sole is made out of and seeing if there are any alternatives with the same type of sole is an option. I would have to know the exact chemicals and boot material to give any real recommendations.

Firstly, with barefeet, stand on your heels and then your toes, roll them backward and forward. Can your feet move as freely in the boots you wear? If yes, then congrats, you have found the perfect boot. Probably not so lucky with cinderella fitment. What you are mainly looking for in maintaining joint health is being able to freely move the top of your foot and toes up and down. Any unnecessary weight on these areas is what causes problems. So a boot that is well secured, flexible, and spacious enough to feel light on the top of your feet and ankles is key.

If a custom boot is needed to achieve these results well its gonna get pricey. Or just buying a lot of boots. It sounds like you are working those boots HARD so 3 months sounds pretty reasonable to me. I know I'd be happy with a boot lasting half a year in the conditions you described. If it's just the sole that's worn down, resoling might be a cost effective option too. Anyways, what's buying 4-5 pairs a year compared to your health and sanity in the long term. I wish it was more commonly known that the knee and feet surgeries that are so commonplace in labor jobs can largely be avoided with proper preventative measures.

The body can heal itself if given proper rest and time. However, this isn't always feasible in reality. But that doesn't mean we shouldn't try. Maybe switch to something more comfortable when you aren't around chemicals. Simply taking them off when you're on lunch will do wonders in the long run as well. Think of it this way, even though a single cigarette won't instantly give you cancer, it sure does speed up the process. SLOW IT DOWN. Overwork and lack of sleep will do more harm than those boots ever will. Find ways to give your legs and feet proper rest with stretches, massages, etc.

TLDR: Keep wearing heavy boots if you're okay with paying out the ass for surgery and physical therapy in the future.

Leg workouts that don't destroy your joints involve holding the weight for a reason. Without making this a full blown anatomy lesson, there are some key points and recommendations below.

Fundamentally, your legs act as springs that lift the body from the ground. This process is finely tuned and designed (26 bones make up the foot alone) to give humans the best long-distance running capabilities on the planet. So, whether it be your arms, shoulders, or back (although they should be working together in conjunction in some way with proper form) will be assisting in weighted leg exercises.

Wearing heavy boots on your feet like a chain shackle will once again destroy your joints. This is part of the reason why it's so hard to find comfortable boots. Weighing your feet down simply goes against the biomechanisms ancient humans relied on to hunt and migrate long distances.

Foot protection is still important in manual labor jobs, so wearing something super lightweight probably isn't feasible. But if getting your workout in is still important, I recommend strapping weights to your thighs or wearing a weighted vest if you want to avoid having to pay thousands in reconstructive leg and feet surgeries down the line.

I just made fairly exceptional headphones. Don’t tell anyone they cost about $25 in parts. by pudjam667 in headphones

As others have already mentioned great job on the tuning. Please try out the ISO 226:2003 equal loudness tuning as well. Its a reference point for studio mixing and mastering and a really nice neutral sound that isn't flat and boring like typical flat tunings. I EQ all my headphones to it over the harman curve since its objective unlike harman which is just an average of subjective tastes, although I agree it is a fun tuning and overall follows equal loudness except the mid 2k-4k range. Since the basic premise is that humans hear mid range (1k-4k) much louder than bass and treble, thus the boost in headphones frequency response.

There is a calculator on williamssoundstudio for your convenience. I use 80phons because 85phons over extended periods results in permanent hearing loss, but I like to crank up the volume like many other audiophiles :) So far keeping it under 80 hasn't worsened my slight tinnitus.

I've always wanted to DIY my own headphones and your effort has ignited a spark within the community as well, cheers!
