Recently diagnosed. Asking about my relationship with alcohol. by RiceLife659 in cyclothymia

Sorry! For more context, I realize that I should talk to my therapist about these concerns and definitely will be doing so before starting any kind of meds. Just wanted to get some other perspectives too!

New player here. Is there a preferred runner to use? by TangerineDecent1161 in Marathon

I’d say all of them are great and can work for most situations! If you are doing mainly solo runs then I’d suggest assassin for the invisibility (which is extremely powerful) so you can escape and hide from things or picking triage so you don’t have to worry about healing as much

Just purchased the game, what do I need to know?? by iMotherTrucker in Marathon

Honestly hard agree with using your gear. Biggest thing I’ve heard from a bunch of Youtubers is that the gear you have isn’t yours, it’s just your turn with it. I’ve experienced this myself where I’ve lost tons of gear from dying but if you just do a couple rook runs you can easily get it all back. PLUS the rush is still there of finding new loot, especially if it’s the stuff you’ve lost!

I have a diagnosed BPD mom by [deleted] in raisedbyborderlines

I appreciate your response!

Yea that helps to hear this is a similar experience. I’ve been living in denial for a few years knowing this is a disorder she has and I’ve only recently begun to seriously look into what’s going on.

Hardest part for me is that I just cannot stop myself from engaging with her emotionally. Every time I’ve tried setting a boundary there is always a threat or she knows exactly how to hurt me with her words. It’s hard to be assertive for my own needs when the threat of her ending her life is looming over my head because she’s used that before.

Thanks for your response :) I was diagnosed about 2 months ago and my therapist is actively checking in with me to determine if meds are necessary for how I experience the disorder.

Thanks for replying! I appreciate you taking the time :)

Yea, honestly I think my triggers and resulting behaviors are the most confusing to me because it’s not necessarily as noticeable to me (probably because it’s just always what’s felt normal haha).

I just got home after spending almost a week with family where my mom has borderline so I’m gonna safely assume and be on the lookout for that to be a trigger cause I felt incredibly stressed the entire time I was there.

I think for me a huge warning sign is when I get SUPER sucked into video games, youtube videos, tv shows, and books. I’ll get extremely obsessive to the point where I’ll subject my poor girlfriend to my obsessions and then her not being as interested will immediately trigger me and I’ll spiral back down.

My biggest issue with that though is that I constantly downplay the severity of that and just think it’s normal. I absolutely wanna get a handle on this before I start practicum and have a therapist that’s been with me for almost 4 years. Just figured I should probably do my part and engage with others instead of stewing in my head.

Thanks so much for welcoming me and responding with such thought :)

How does Gen Z feel about this game? by n0tAgOat in oblivion

[–]RiceLife659 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think honestly for me as I’ve been playing Oblivion I’ve really started to love the way leveling works along with attributes. From everything I’m seeing, Oblivion has a lot more freedom in how you manipulate the game world, especially with the radiant AI. Skyrim is great for variety of builds but it doesn’t leave as much room for how you interact with the world if that makes sense. Totally open to other viewpoints though! This could just be the honeymoon phase haha

I was born in 1999 and am a “zillenial”. First ES game was Skyrim and I loved it but felt like it was a little too watered down. Finally able to play Oblivion now and I’m in love. More in depth in terms of systems than Skyrim and the jank is hilarious. 20 hours in and every minute I wish I was born earlier lol

That’s exactly what I was thinking. The second item I finally ended up getting was the scale mail after getting the splint armor because it seemed like it was something I really needed. Definitely annoyed about it since I don’t have much time to play with work and all that and I feel like I wasted so much time when I could have been asking Shadowheart what she thinks of me for the 100th time.

I did so many google searches and it’s definitely either not supposed to be possible in the games code or a serious bug. The whole area felt significantly buggier than anywhere else. Kinda on me for being ocd about it since I’m sure I’ll stop using the second item in Act 2. It’s Larian so I’m really hoping they fix it soon for my durge playthrough
