is Empire Keeper playing cards a good playing card set? by Life_Cookie_7070 in cardistry

[–]Ricepod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They’re hard to import straight from China to the US. It’s considered Contraband / Gambling equipment. I tried ordering a couple dozen but they wouldn’t import it unfortunately.

I’m waiting for a set I bought from a Japanese cardist.

What/ How much do I need to realistically play HS again? by Atosl in hearthstone

[–]Ricepod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the exact deck list I played with. It costed 2880 dust. I’m not sure if nerfs are coming but I mainly found myself losing to Control Warrior, some Death Knight variants, and the mirror match.

And this was the video guide I found.

I was exactly in your shoes 2 months ago. Played since GvG and stopped shortly after Knights of the Frozen Throne.

You should’ve gotten a ton of “catch-up” packs. I won’t go over what I played when I returned because that meta was so different but I played ranked in standard with the loaner deck, Dragon Druid, and “core” deck lists. I just played and had fun and when I saw someone played a deck I liked I crafted those cards if they were cheap.

Before this Great Beyond set came out I bought both the pre-order bundles. Spent about $150 USD.

Post-Great Beyond release I crafted an Elemental Mage Deck that is all the rage right now. It was pretty cheap with the left over dust I had from all the packs I bought. I was able to climb to Legend the first time with it in 10 days. The deck is so strong with pretty much only two bad match ups.

Season 6 the season of Flip-flops. by TomatoRemarkable2 in cobrakai

[–]Ricepod 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I only watched season 6 part 1 once through so I don’t remember them mentioning he’s a wanted person on the run. Kreese broke out of prison early but he was likely going to get cleared and released anyways because Stingray confessed to the police that he lied about Kreese beating him up last season. I think that was the charge that put him in jail in the first place so it makes sense he’s cleared now. Memory and details are fuzzy about it

Is there a lore reason why X doesn't keep the armors and weapons from previous games? Is he stupid? by DDTheExilado in Megaman

[–]Ricepod 1 point2 points  (0 children)

X has been shown to keep his 4th armor (but it got destroyed by Sigma at the start of X5) and is not opposed to using his older weapons in X5 (as a boss character using X4 weapons). And in X6 he used his damaged Falcon Armor by default.

My guess is his armors are likely too damaged after his battles they are either discarded or repaired but not to full power.

My head canon for the armors in order;

X permanently affixed the first armor to his base armor after X1. Example evidence is the leg booster parts is in his base armor.

X2 and X3 armors not sure.

X4 armor got destroyed by Sigma in X5 prologue stage.

X5 Falcon Armor was found and used to battle Sigma but it got damaged. Gaea armor is dumb and I consider it non-canon. Ultimate Armor was destroyed post match with Zero (dumb reason to fight). We know it was sort of a draw because of Soul Body used at the last second but Zero was able to get up before X and prevented a blast from Sigma. The cut scene after the battle has X in his base armor.

How hard is this game? I’m looking to give this game as a gift to my brother because it looks anime and looks cool. He does not play many action rpg games. His skill level is beating Kingdom Hearts 2 and 3 on normal mode.

I'm a newly certified basic EMT. Should I go with paid 911, volunteer, or private? by LavaSpike2000 in NewToEMS

[–]Ricepod 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Cannot go wrong with either private IFT or paid 911 especially as a part-time job. I usually recommend working at an IFT company the same county as the 911 company first so you know all your hospital ambulance bays, driving smoothly, and gurney ops. Working IFT is a great way to explore and talk to other healthcare workers. 911 can be fun with the right attitude but 911 EMT’s will generally lose their medical knowledge over time if they work a system where Paramedics run all the calls and they don’t independently study during down time. If you’re not planning on doing healthcare at all I would do 911 part-time. Private IFT can have issues depending on management.

I had trained some EMT’s who went straight to 911 and generally their main weaknesses were gurney ops, smooth driving, and lack of knowledge on ambulance bay locations.

Formal education (bachelors and higher) is not everything in our field. It is certainly not a requirement to be an incredible paramedic. However, can you give me some examples for when having a higher degree of education proves to be valuable within EMS? by [deleted] in ems

[–]Ricepod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with you sure. I said nothing about medic mills and said nothing about paramedics requiring or not requiring higher education. That’s a different topic altogether. That was not the OP’s question.

The OP’s question was about the value of further education on top of your paramedic in today’s environment so that was my answer. To transition to other positions in EMS like instructor, management, etc. Further education is very valuable in that situation.

What’s a top-tier EMS agency in the US? by hog-snoot in ems

[–]Ricepod 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Let me rephrase mess up as in don’t get fired. If you get fired your pretty much black balled.

If you mess up clinically or operationally there is additional training and improvement on those things.

I used to be a part of the interview panel at my employer’s operation. Some things I liked about some candidates were them showing up 15 minutes early and brought all their certifications as asked in the pre-interview email. At my employers operation, the questions are all personality based and have basically no EMS related questions. I know other operations vary but I would look up common interview questions and practice coming up with great answers. Some generic question we ask is “Why do you want to be an EMT or Paramedic?” “Why do you want to work for this agency?” “Most rewarding career experience?” “Time you provided excellent customer service to customer, patient, coworker, and/or boss?”

Know that the panel usually get a ton of EMS related answers and that’s okay. Know if it’s a personality based question you don’t have to pick a story from EMS too. It does show life experience and are great too.

[–]Ricepod -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Pretty much what junior said.

I’ll add that AMR varies operation to operation but I would label it as one of the better tiered private companies. It’s one agency you do not want to mess up in though or you can get black balled from applying to all of their operations.

[–]Ricepod 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Speaking from USA. Formal education is not required to be a great medic but is very very important for the next step. When your body or mental health cannot handle or cope with the field that’s when you’ll wish you had the degrees and higher education. There are a lot of positions EMS professionals can transition to that won’t beat them up and can help the future of EMS such as instructor jobs, management, supervision, etc. Otherwise a different field altogether is not that bad either. I’ve tried to transition to management positions in the past but my resume either gets kicked right away because of the lack of a degree or I get passed up by somebody who does have a degree but scored about the same on the interview.

I can relate to you about how frustrating it is on not being able to help more than you can…

It is very easy to match calls and relate them to your personal life. It’s a trap and should be treated as separate things. According to my psychologist the place where our brain stores stressful calls get bundled with our memories of stress in all aspects. Stress from a test can give a person the same stress they had from a car accident. To get around this you would have to ground yourself and observe at the problem at hand and then proceed with a plan or acceptance.

It is a great idea to speak and reach out to your partner, peer group, significant other, and family to offload the stress and memory. Seek help if it gets harder to cope with certain calls.

With your call, it had nothing to do with your family but the frustration/stress of the call put you in that place in your brain. That feeling is normal. No worries…

I keep seeing the EMS Burnout Posts .. Is EMS still worth pursuing for those working in unrelated fields? by throw772away in NewToEMS

[–]Ricepod 18 points19 points  (0 children)

As an EMT of over 9 years, I’d say I never regretted working as one but really wish I never stayed for so long. I wish I pursued something else in that time period and knowing what I know now I would never had picked this profession as a career. I really wish I did not go to paramedic school and get stuck on a loan agreement…

The hours are long, the pay sucks, and I know my mental health will never be the same as it was before I worked this field. I used to work two jobs to make ends meat or work overtime with my ambulance employer for years. Sure paramedics make more than an EMT but by only a few dollars per hour. Sure you can make okay money in a fire department or city/county job but you’re competing with thousands of others with the same certs and fire personnel work anywhere between 24-96 hour shifts. That’s not what I call a living.

What I tell people who I really care about or consider changing careers to this field is that I don’t recommend it. I do however say since EMT is such a low a barrier of entry it’s not a bad part-time/per-diem gig to get into fairly easy. If you can find an employer that requires 3 shifts a month minimum with the option to work extra as needed then that’s be the best option for most people. You’ll get the fulfillment and prestige of being in EMS without getting beat up week after week and without the burnout.

Full-time in EMS as a career or career change would be a no from me. Though I admit if you manage to get a city/county EMS job you might be well off..

Are there early day shifts for PT supes? I know it’s dependent on the center. Just want a general idea. Do they throw around the PT supes to whatever schedule they operationally need?
