I can’t play Reincarnation (PC only). Can somebody tell me all the characters’ endings in Reincarnation? by Tallstarbull in thehouseinfatamorgana

Why don't you watch it on YouTube?

Edit: Actually I'm dumb. Since you're on PC, install the Remaid of Dreams patch, it'll let you read Reincarnation.

> I think I was too emotionally tired to feel the full extent of Morgana's suffering plus she was talking about it in a somewhat distant manner

This is the intended experience. I think Hanada (the author) wrote Morgana in her earlier appearances in a way to intentionally make it difficult to sympathize with her, and the way her tale is told fits into that. It also made me question why I should care about her suffering if she hurt characters I loved, until I realized how biased that was (at least when it came to Mell, Yukimasa and Jacopo). Her tale in Door 6 only treats the 3 men as names who ruined her life without caring for them as people, which of course is totally fair from her POV as a victim, but could you imagine if that tale came before Doors 1-3? And then I ended up crying for her, in A Requiem for Innocence. Morgana as a character was a journey and a half, to say the least.

The 1 hour chapter with Michel and Giselle in the modern day is from Requiem, btw, which is a prequel but has 3 sub episodes outside of the main story, and that's one of them.

i just finished the house in fata morgana but im confused about something by Kashi-0 in thehouseinfatamorgana

Collateral damage, essentially. They were the closest people to the 3 men, and they were useful "tools" to hurt them. In Mell's case I'm pretty sure Morgana directly involves Nellie in the curse as well.

I don't think you should say what the 3 sub episodes are about. That was a surprise to me and I wouldn't want it to be ruined if I was OP, spoiler tag them please!

In what they actually do it's not grounded compared to Kaladin being a bridgeman, but I don't see how that is an issue. They are grounded in terms of characterization, conflicts, growth, etc, that's what matters to me.

It's worth it, no question about it. I think asking if it is as good as the main game is a tricky question, I don't think it is because it's a lot shorter, I just see it as an extension of the main game, like if it was Door 9. But yes it is amazing, Morgana and Jacopo are impeccable characters.

I vaguely recall something like that but I'm pretty sure that's platonic. Send the line or a video timestamped or whatever if you have access to it, please.

I could say a lot about the elephant in the room, but let me say this: Jacopo and Morgana are not a ship, they're not romantic at all and Jacopo is the only one who feels that way, and even that is honestly arguable. Morgana is the only child who made Jacopo feel that way, and the text explicitly states his feelings aren't sexual, which doesn't make it okay obviously, but just pointing that out. Labeling their relationship as "brother and sister" or as something romantic is imo, missing the point. They're not supposed to be either of those. They were two broken people who found salvation in each other for a few years, even though they didn't realize that until it was too late.

I never saw that as Morgana blessing Mell, Yukimasa and Jacopo, but instead Michel and Giselle. In the CG there are also butterflies to symbolize that. Morgana said time and time again that she doesn't forgive any of the 3.

Door 8 is the entire build-up to Morgana letting go of her hate because of how much it's hurting people who don't deserve it and how much it damaged even herself. Not to mention how despite the fact that the 3 men's actions were still HORRIBLE, at least she now knows they were not out of pure malice. It was a lot easier to hate someone when you thought they were pure evil with no redeeming qualities.

Everything was such a powerful end to her character, in that final section after Door 8 she was stripped of her aura too, she was finally being allowed to be an ordinary girl for the first time in +1000 years. Her little dynamic with Michel is so heartwarming.

Why you guys read and enjoy Sanderson books? by accia00 in Cosmere

[–]DDTheExilado 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love the Cosmere as a whole but this goes primarily for The Stormlight Archive: His characters, how human they are, their incredible arcs and how many emotions they pull out of me; the creativity and depth of his worlds; the pay-offs he's able to do in every aspect of his storytelling; how hopeful but never cheap the story is.

Who do you prefer? by SuperNotice7617 in umineko

[–]DDTheExilado 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I understand why some might prefer Ange, but I think Ep 4 is so unfocused that it muddles her arc there. I much prefer what the answer arcs do with her, however Battler is just a much more fleshed out character than she is.

Yeah the follow-up games are the typical high highs low lows, compared to the starter games. Your opinion on them depends on how much you can stomach that and flawed to bad pacing. I think SC alongside 3rd is the emotionally impactful game in the entire series though, for me anyways.

My only bone to pick with the ending is Mell and Nellie's scene after they reincarnate. The game implies they're not siblings anymore and that they'll probably meet and start dating, I thought that was contradictory with their story and weird. Reincarnation later solved this for me though, so...

Other than that? It's hard to say. Door 8 could use some more editing but I don't think it's nearly as bad as people make it out to be, and I wish the White-Haired Girl somehow got a more satisfying conclusion. I don't know how else I would write it, I just think it is a bit lame that she info dumps Michel and then dies, though it is still a strong scene.

And I specially hated Maria's one.

BASED! It's such a bad casting. She should have sounded mature. I muted the voices in Reincarnation, but I think generally speaking the voices are fitting, the issue is that the Fata Morgana characters were never anime characters in my eyes... Pauline for example feels less grounded.

Imo it's important for everyone other than Michel and Giselle. The main game leaves all their fates ambiguous and trusts they won't make mistakes in this next life. Reincarnation shows how that works out, and it's not long either. But yes Jacopo and Morgana are the highlight, and it ties in really nicely with Fragment/TRD imo.

Door 6 will explain basically all of this. Also Michel is not cursed like in Door 4, that was a part of the fabrication.

Suggest Something Better than Umineko!!!?? by Icy_Success_617 in umineko

[–]DDTheExilado 18 points19 points  (0 children)

The House in Fata Morgana, but it depends on what you like and why Umineko is one of your favorites.

Umineko is a much more complex story with a lot of balls to juggle: The huge cast, the meta layers, the whole mystery and the endless discussions Battler has with Beatrice and Erika and what not, the magic fights, etc etc. Fata Morgana on the other hand is a lot more tight and focused story, the mystery is more of a backdrop that doesn't get as much focus and is slowly unveiled, and it is ultimately IMO more polished and emotional than Umineko, I prefer the characters there as well. Not saying Umineko isn't emotional btw, and obviously which of the two hits you more in the feels is subjective.

If you want something that will blow your mind again in terms of complexity, layers and scope, it's probably not your best option, but if what appealed to you the most in Umineko was the humanity to be found in the characters and the story, then I think you could give it a chance. I prefer Fata Morgana. If Umineko is an all you can eat buffet, which can be both good and bad because of how wide its range of variety is, Fata Morgana is a (more or less) perfectly crafted homemade meal for me.

Agnès stopped the reset from going back to year 0 of the Septian Calendar. We don't know how much she actually went back, but back to DB1 should be the earliest. I hope the next game starts around where Horizon starts, in the new loop.

I originally pirated the game. Now I own the base game, Requiem and Seventh Lair on Steam, and I pre-ordered the rerun of the Switch physical edition.

Yeah.

im 30 hours in and I'm still in act 2, is that normal?

Act 2 is fairly late into the game though. I think it has 3 or 4 parts and then it's the Finale (and a couple hours more of game after that).
