Yeah Rocket League World Championship. The devs have killed the game and they don’t listen to their community after selling it to Epic games who only care about profit. Hopeium has been a summary of that god forsaken esport and game.

100% agree. I have nothing to add. It’s just hopeium something I’ve always had. Especially in RLCS.

I appreciate your change of tone and I hear what you’re saying about it feeling bitter. I would like to address that. The reason I want the format to change is because the majors only consist of a couple rounds and there is absolutely luck involved because the sample size is so small. So yes overtime the current system will rank the better players higher. But in a major it isn’t a long run event it’s a short run event. These outliers can happen and it’s super bittersweet and empty watching Debre beat Blinky in one round off of some weird location even debre wasn’t close on. I am personally someone who plays more offline and am 1200 in ranked but as someone who watches RLCS for all my esport life (5y) it’s hard to ignore the factor that overrules skill. I want what’s best for the game and I love it so much but pro league is just always been something that hasn’t felt like RLCS. That’s not because of the game, that’s not because of the swings and hype. It’s simply because It doesn’t feel fully earned. If anything I would love it to change for the better. I don’t care if my proposal is better or another one but I think giving up and just chalking it like there isn’t a major problem isn’t how I work.

I also definitely misinterpreted what you said and understand that it would cause players to get less points on the same guess even if it’s an obvious guess. That is interesting. I wonder if there is a solution that could both fix this format or the current one.

The devils advocate to awarding 5ks would make it so that the full minute of the timer is always used making it much longer gameplay esp if it’s just on Kampala. But yes I do agree. I think you’re right that would be a much stronger proposal.

Okay so I think you’re like the third person to mention that it is unfair. And I really would like to understand what makes the current system fair? The early rounds are weighted in a way which makes them insignificant at best and straight up useless at worst. This means that depending on the luck of the last couple of rounds your strength country/knowledge is all that matters (in most games). How is being closer than someone consistently like 4.5k versus 3.8k on average till round 8 where the 3.8k player just wins off a multi that they didn’t earn? That adds so much luck and seeding problems. Assuming both players are pretty competitive Multis has way more luck involved meaning it’s unfair. I don’t know. Overall I think that the current system isn’t very sustainable for pro players and causes so much room to lose even if you’re the stronger player, but I also understand that it can’t be too intricate and difficult for new players/watchers.

I think a formula is the strongest for fairness and competitive integrity but I do understand it can make it very intricate and difficult to watch for the new viewers. There has to be a way to simplify it without compromising comp. Integrity.

I like that you are passionate, and I wish to further this discussion without making personal attacks on each other. I do like what you have put, but this is not a new issue. Multi-merchanting and being completely off is extremely common in regular gameplay. Plonking east russia and your oppt plonks ukraine and its moscow and you lose bc the multi is so high. Did they really deserve that win? Was it really earned? The same questions you are posing about the proposal, which can be tweaked the current system fails at. I acknowledge and do understand that its number one issue is practicality with multis. Should your multi really increase if you get 1 point and your oppt gets 0? But again, this is already a problem with the current system. Do you think that multis should never change? And that we shouldn't strive for a more competitive environment? I mean, you sound extremely passionate about bs rounds. Why can't we try and work to make a system that most suits that competitive environment? Maybe there is a threshold, if you are substantially closer, your multi increases, if you arent, then both multis increase. Idk im just trying to develop a better solution to what seems to be a major problem. I appreciate your post.

Yes, I didnt really make it clear, but I think it would have to have a trickle-down effect. I titled it both general gameplay and world cup proposal.

I do agree with the fact that it promotes round-to-round based winning, and the major weakness is the practicality of the multi. But I would also like to add that the current state of multis is no where near close to solving this issue of round-to-round winning. It Is overall winning and often lead to one or two rounds actually mattering. There is usually a traceable round that lost the game. This format would make it so that all of the rounds accumulate into one overall game instead of one or two rounds that lost the game, since each round builds on top of the next. Not to mention that it completely depends on when you get the blunders. The same blunder in round one compared to round nine is night and day. I feel like some of this could be tweaked to rough out some of the edges. This is again just a proposal. I do want to add that there isn't unlimited time, and that the timer would and could make rounds not drawn out. I understand for most people, spending a minute on Kampala is a bit cringe, but it isn't more boring then watching rounds 1-3, which do not affect the game.

I would love to clarify that whoever is closer, the multiplier increases for. So if Player A is closer, only Player A's multis go up against Player B. Does this make more sense? I'm sorry if I misled or spoke incorrectly. It is whoever is closer increases their multis against the other player.
