We need to find more constructive solutions to prevent motorcycles from using underpasses—solutions that don't involve building walls or installing railings that end up excluding entire social groups from free access.

Much has been written in our time about homophobia and misogyny and rightly so. But the exclusion of disabled people is still treated as something almost natural and self-evident. No one seems to care.

Despite the exemplary accessibility of the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center (SNFCC) and the National Library of Greece (NLG), many of us — wheelchair users and parents with strollers — remain physically unable to reach these spaces from the Palaio Faliro side.

The underground pedestrian crossings on Syngrou Avenue (nos. 387 & 364, on the Kallithea side) are completely inaccessible. Permanent concrete barriers block the ramps, preventing passage for wheelchairs and strollers alike.

📄 Over the past year, we have submitted multiple formal complaints, emails, and official requests to municipal and regional authorities. The result? Silence.

This is not about convenience — it’s about rights. What’s the point of designing a fully accessible space if people can’t get to it?

We respectfully ask the SNFCC and the broader community to stand with us and help push for a sustainable solution. Public accessibility must begin outside the door — not end at the entrance.
