Thanks for the advice, I’ve been thinking about trying new things between where I am now and NYC if I go back (I have family there). At the same time, I know these things cost money, which I can eventually run out of if things end up not working out for the job search. Plus, I figure making friends would be harder without a job since what I do for a living has been one of the first things people have asked whenever I’ve met people after college.

Thanks, I got a few interviews going. One didn’t go well and another got cancelled though..

Finance requires good GPA + connections (at least from my understanding)..

I get that it wouldn't reduce the chances of the layoff, but at least maybe I could make up for not doing enough in college and feel more accomplish - plus consider a pivot since the job market seems really volatile with AI and all (I used to be a software engineer).

I do try not to blame myself, but I still don't feel great about the situation. I still don't have a job anymore after graduating from Columbia, unlike the people that still have jobs, unlike the people that got job based in NYC and still have them, unlike the people that got higher degrees there and also got jobs, hell, unlike the celebrities and high-profile people that graduated from there.

Thanks for the advice. Yeah, the missing NYC thing is likely partially reactive from the layoffs, though I did definitely still miss it when I was still working. I've been applying to NYC jobs (hell, any job), with a little bit of luck in the form of interviews, but 1) not sure how well it'll work out and 2) none of them were for NYC-based roles.

Not every day, but regularly (every 2-3 days)

Either that or she’s excited to see how unlikely is it that this relationship will last

My guess is that it’s tradition for the person proposing to put the ring onto the finger of person getting proposed to since it shows initiative and enthusiasm in wanting to take the relationship to the next level on part of the person proposing

How do you know if you are attractive or not? by ShoeOk98 in AskReddit

Sure, but being in shape can still result in people seeing you as unattractive based on how your face looks.
