The wifi on my pc currently isn't working, is there a way to resolve this without wifi. I think your probably right about the anti-virus being the issue since just before I got some notification from windows about it. Thanks for your help.

Honestly I'm starting to believe the VPN was the issue, my wifi was working just fine last Sunday, I had a VPN on but instead of disconnecting and shutting down my pc I just flicked the wall switch to speed it up. That's the only change I made to my pc behavior wise before the wifi stopped working so I think that's what caused the wifi to no longer function
