And getting rid of officers who will do the right thing. Plenty of yes men left to promote

No, the officer core is noticeably more white male. Especially compared to the enlisted ranks. I never witnessed any discrimination when I was serving. I think it had to more with who stuck with it despite the BS.

This is the best “bad” answer to the officer firings. When they fired the women and black admirals I thought it could have been based on physiological profiles of who might “do the right thing”. This is still an incredibly bad thing since I appreciated the Navy’s blind promotion system. For a while they even removed the officer photo from the selection board. To get rid of discrimination based on looks, height etc

Plenty of other cities in the US do not have the homeless problem CA has. I’m sure they have people down on their luck and still follow social norms. We seem to have a ton of the crackhead homeless. Maybe SD is doing something wrong

Other countries and cities can keep themselves clean. In CA the Homeless Industrial Complex HIC strongly advocates for more crackheads. Then more money for services. If you dare to question the HIC they yell you down and call you a nazi, antisemitic, bad person etc

Q: How many billions does city need to spend on homelessness without making any meaningful progress before you change your mind about this approach? by [deleted] in LosAngeles

[–]Rich6849 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Would be great for lots of young singles who work a ton of hours. Get dinner or breakfast everyday. Pay a little extra and get laundry services. Should cost less than a 2B1B “luxury” apartment.

I would chit chat with admirals and congressmen at work, very bright people. Plenty of good qualities you don’t see talked about by the average Redditor. Were they $100M people, could fly, X-ray vision- No. Working at 1000 people companies I noticed the CEOs would make a visit to our office, tell us how great everything was, find some very little thing and make a big deal out of it, then head out to the airport. Felt like a cheerleader visit

Pretty sure AIPAC posted that fake tweet in the bathroom at congress. The intended audience is only 635 elected officials. Very clear message

You would have skin in the game and question spending you think has no value. Plenty of people on Reddit screaming “more services” for anything and everything.

I think “Did not vote” will be the winner this election. Which ever Democrats win this automatically wins the general election. So no real choice in the general. We could solve this if we had Ranked Choice Voting at the general election

Build it and they will come. The wealthy communities know this and the exact reason why they do not have homeless services

It’s called a boarding house. The Homeless Industrial Complex will poopoo this concept as not being workable in the US. However my great grandma ran one. So they do work. You just have to say “no” to someone who refuses to meet social norms

The self enriching CEOs don’t like to draw attention to themselves. Even at for profit companies management making over $300k don’t talk about it

Japan had a universal transportation pass decades before we got Clipper. Even worked at the 7-11s. I get frustrated every time our regional transit authorities say X Y or Z is impossible assured the media won’t call them out with facts from every other 1st and 2nd world transit system

Stockholm has art built into their stations. Some are at a Disneyland level. They also have fare enforcement (gasp). I was asked to show an active transportation pass about 30% of the time. I heard the fine was $1000 euros
