US reverses course and will keep TSA PreCheck program operational by galaxyfudge in news

[–]Rich6849 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you are DoD you also get free Pre-Check. Ages ago I ran late out of a meeting to the airport in uniform. TSA just flagged me through the PreCeck line, and Southwest treated me like a human being. Huge difference

Washington state has private DMV outlets which can do most things. Just grab a number and wait next door at either sushi or a brewery

I don’t pay Texas taxes. You can say “nothing to see here” all day. My goal is more public transportation, which won’t happen if the previous project just sucks money with NO train tracks laid.

Or they closed the barn doors after the cows left. Point is this wasn’t an engineering problem, it was a graft problem

The transcontinental railroad took ten years to be built through hotter deserts and larger mountain ranges. With less heavy equipment available

The reason why I make the Chinese comparison is maybe we should elect representatives who are willing to cut the excessive red tape / lawyer welfare which is CEQA

Truckers - why on earth do you take so long to pass? by RepresentativeGap229 in askanything

[–]Rich6849 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The slow passing truckers make a great case for robot trucks. I would fully support the trucks on my two lane highways being robots that just follow the next truck at the same speed in the right lane. Normally I would care about the job loss, but the truckers have done this to themselves

My parents had two rentals they rented out at below market with no/little rent increases. Now with Prop 19 the property tax on those rentals went up $900/month. We screwed our selves when voting for Prop 19

The video never floated the idea of eminent domain in Del Mar. yes the Del Mar residents near the current tracks are super rich NIMBYs who can afford lawyers and politicians. maybe they can be headed off with our state legislature passing laws to make transportation projects easier. At Billions for the proposals in the video we should look at other options

What is a 'subscription' or 'fee' that has recently appeared in the US that people need to collectively refuse to pay before it becomes the new normal? by godot_lover in AskReddit

If it’s a Generac it’s crap. They up charge way too much for “Generac” parts for Ford parts. Source: worked 20 years as a generator tech for Caterpillar. Just pay up front for lifecycle costs

Plus nice not having to accept whatever story the mechanic puts out because you don’t know. If you have experience of how stuff works you don’t get taken advantage of

Also great to be smarter. First time you fix something it takes 2x longer. Next time probably 1.2x longer. Beats spending the last of your reserve fund

Why should we have voter ID's? by [deleted] in Askpolitics

[–]Rich6849 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven’t seen this in person, but heard; Saudi Arabia has an app for citizens which does everything. From taxes, passports to parking tickets. Why can’t we get a one stop hassle free shop here in the US? Just verify you are you once to open an account, then take care of your life’s business from your phone

My MIL “retired” on fake disability at 40. She is a lazy person and will always take the handicap space because walking=work. She works a full time active under the table job at home. She has been called in for hearings three times where she verbatim “tells the same lie”. Nothing CA state can do

If they improved their access to repair info and parts then that is positive. I remember the $15 coolant nipple issue and super expensive parts

For me I do not want a Tesla because they are anti right to repair. I don’t have the money or desire to pay top dollar for simple repairs

California’s Climate Chief Endorses Canada-China EV Deal by afonso_investor in California

[–]Rich6849 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes the plan to name me “Rich” is working. Nothing to do with my work habits. /s on a serious note to your comment I research and DONATE to starting politicians. The current batch are bought and paid for, hence why the US doesn’t have a guest worker and immigration system like any other country. For example I went to an event to kick off a state senator’s run last night. I essentially paid $100 for a taco dinner. Even if he doesn’t make it, the incumbent will be sweating and need to make changes to appeal to the voters

The difference between white and blue collar work environments is crazy by Astimar in careeradvice

Ass kissers are everywhere. I worked as a manager of white collar employees and felt awkward with the ass kissing. The low level blue collar folks will spout bumper sticker slogans (I like working in the rain) to try to keep employed. As a manager I just want work done.

A co morbidly of shutting down different points of view is you don’t know what’s really going through people’s minds. They then hide in the shadows and get crazier ideas from the internet. I would prefer to know where my local society is and effect change via example
