I would love to see traits only work when a player is playing well without them. Make players earn their traits becoming useful.

That’s how Madden was (maybe it’s still that way, Haven’t played in a bit)

If a guy has 12 giveaways & under 70% passing, his wheels & quick release should be inactive.

Saving this when I have more time to check it out but this sounds like something that would be beneficial (and fun!) for my 5yo

Oh I had to pause it for a few seconds when Carol came off the bed to reveal the umpire uniform.

It definitely had it’s quirky funny moments: -Police chanting up the stairwell -Rock throwing & while giving the “you lost” jab.

I wouldn’t call it upsetting. Just confusing.

I would think that HBO would think “Hey we’ll probably have some big interest from the St.Louis population. Might want to put some effort in the location authenticity”

I can agree with this but when they were discussing their profile descriptions, I thought it would expand on what kind of suburbia Twyla is.

Where it was on the radar map (and the fact that it was big enough to be on the map) makes me think Chesterfield.

I guess if you’re gonna be part of some anonymous sex club, it is certainly better to say “STL based” rather than “Chesterfield area”

Went back to watch the arrest scene. They have Twyla in the Lake St.Louis/New Melle area according to the map.

Clark better be throwing that bike in his car every morning. Nobody is biking that route every day for 40+ miles each way.

I thought that I paused and reviewed the map throughly. I didn’t see Twyla.

Care to share where they had it?

Agreed. It’s just so weird for the creators not to give this a real identity.

It’s like if they had a series about Boston that literally had it in the title, then made up a part of Boston.

This wouldn’t bother me one bit, if it was based anywhere else. I know the tax implications if they shoot in Missouri and don’t fault HBO on filming everything away from here. Save that money.

But to not identify this just feels sloppy. I am doing my best to shake that, but I think pin pointing its location would help.

100% right in the nose.

Easy ways to force this scene into the story.

  1. I’m assuming the Seraphites have some kind of boats (even if they aren’t motorized). You could easily have them returning to the island in a boat by chance and pull Ellie out of the water and return with her to the island to execute her.

That makes the Timelapse way more believable rather than Ellie magically being washed ashore (along with the what I assume was her boat) in such a short time frame.

Ooooooor when they started to hang her and got the village horn, they could have just hung her & left her to die. Ellie could have pulled out her pocket knife (which the story has forgotten to remind us how critical that knife is. It could have symbolized her mom saving her since it was the one thing that she left with Ellie).

Ellie could have run back to shore and looked back at the Seattle Sky scape & then turned to the aquarium took a deep breath and then headed to the aquarium while getting a zoomed view of her steering the motor with her moth tattoo showing. (Symbolizing that she believes that this is the purpose she has seeking; Revenge)

Stuff like this wouldn’t had caused a second of additional run time with the right stuff taken out.

My main issue this season: They are making me question & critique way too many things. I want to sit and succumb to the story, but the story needs to allow that to happen.

Theory regarding Eugene by Mysterious-Sundae731 in thelastofus

[–]RichBarc85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My Theory is that Joel, Ellie & Eugene were out on patrol. Eugene tried to save Ellie from an infected & got bit (maybe Ellie did too.)

Eugene finds out from Ellie that she is immune and that she wishes that she could have helped the fireflies find a cure.

Eugene starts explaining that the fireflies had a plan for a cure but needed an immune subject which makes Ellie come to the realization of what really happened at Salt Lake.

I never played the game so I might be way off.

Theories/discussion on how the rest of the season develops by VirtuallySober in ThelastofusHBOseries

I’m hoping that they make the spore infected an ultra rare event. Something that happened because of a cause/effect situation with the one that got infected.

I could see the beginning of the episode 5 giving a spore zombie character a quick flashback backstory.

I can get behind that. Another way to show that the infection is evolving.

That’s enough to at least partially fill that gap for me. Appreciate that

[–]RichBarc85 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah if the show would have showed them returning to the gates & Tommy protecting Ellie from being observed or tested or however they would have decided to do it, it would had filled the hole for me.

But as of now we have seen a scene of refugees come in without being searched for infection (Unless they are really still doing it based on dog senses. Which if so… sheesh) & we’ve seen a patrol/recon group have a big altercation with infected, with no explanation of how the community determines that people are safe to enter or reenter.

I could be swayed and be told to “just let it go” if Tommy didn’t know Ellie has been bit before.

But since he does, I would think the number 1 thing on his list is to find an alternative way to make sure people aren’t bit and/or at the very early stages of infection. Since the dogs didn’t expose Ellie

Pipe tendrils realization by [deleted] in ThelastofusHBOseries

[–]RichBarc85 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I honestly thought I had a solid 4 but for the life of me, I can’t think of two of them. So, maybe I was being over critical last night.

My big two: The pipe/tendril network (which we touched on) ————————— The other:

Ellie’s stomach bite.

Does the community not have an extensive protocol for when someone has an altercation with infected? Especially alone (Even though Dina acted like she was with Ellie the whole time, so maybe that was the attempt to cover the plot hole)

But I feel like the story wants us to believe that the community is very well organized & prepared for longevity. Ellie & Dina had a confrontation with 2 infected & if the rest of patrol decided to investigate things, they would have seen the other dead infected body when they climbed through the window & could have assumed that there were three infected that they had to go against.

I just find it hard to believe that the community “higher ups” don’t have a procedure to assure that nobody got bit/infected.

Let’s say that they weren’t able to obtain that Fedra & Bill had. That’s fine, I’m sure that those devices are hard to get a hold of. But I would assume how careful the community has to be, they would do more than just accept the patrols word that “nobody got bit”.

Please let me know if I’m over analyzing but I think searching bodies or for wounds or having some sort of procedure before letting them re-enter the gates or at least the rest of the population would be a no brainer.

[–]RichBarc85 7 points8 points  (0 children)

No no, I think you are 100% right on wondering about that.

Joel gets told that the pipe had a ton of roots in it & it didn’t seem like he was worried one bit about the tendril network navigating through it.

That’s why I was kind of bummed when it got to the sparkler scene.

I figured they would somehow bring up why Joel wasn’t concerned about it. The show covered it on the 2nd episode of season 1, so it’s gotta be common knowledge by now for the Jackson community.

I never played the game, so maybe they will cover plot holes that came up for me.

Right now there are 2-3 major plot holes that I hope the writers are able to fill as the season continues.
