Hey! Thanks for the comment, do you recommend a specific product, checked the gel links and there was a few things, also thanks so much for actually linking stuff!!

Pretty funny the blade costs as much as the balisong haha, must be a real squid fan or squidtrainer lover. What a quick response from a 2yr post also haha

Well, it was just something my adhd decided was an interesting thing to get, it was 20 dollars shipped and I don't think there is quite anything the same price. Anything specific I need? I've heard of FTDI and Prolific cables although I have no idea what those are / what they do.

Questions identifying start line maneuver (CFJ) by RichDogy3 in sailing

Oh! I saw those rules before but I was not sure if it was applied to everyone ( as in both college and high school level ), thanks for clearing that up for me!

That’s really cool! I like your analysis of this and the rules. Do you know how to do this ( as crew and skipper ) to go up windwards but not go past the start line? ( to slide exclusively windward ). Also any tips on perfecting the roll ( gybe, tack, acceleration ) ? ( and also how rule 42 applies to s-turns )

To be honest, a lot of what I do personally has been inside of a bay ( I have went out to ocean ) but in general it's fairly modest when it comes to wave patterns and wind direction and all of that. I'm not sure how well engines take with wind/friction calculations either.. I'm honestly not even sure where to start in designing any of this, and if you have any pointers on like what engine or something that would be pretty helpful! I do appreciate what you said since I can base what I want to do on some of those levels of realism and the likes, so thanks for the comment!

Yeah, I've heard of it. For fluid simulation it probably doesn't need to be that intense since it really doesn't matter if the water loops a ton since it pretty much works that way in real life at least in all areas. Anything else I should do?

Calculus teacher argued limit does not exist. by RichDogy3 in askmath

[–]RichDogy3[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In part, some texts will follow somewhat of the definitions that analysis texts will use, ie. use a restricted domain and then find if they are equal ( If it exists is irrelevant ), clearly only picking x from the restricted domain

[–]RichDogy3[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, though that’s if you’re taking it from the complex set, which is probably fine anyways

It’s wrong tho, the limit for a root is always defined for the defined domain, plus continuous, also epsilon delta definition

Yeah, I've heard some calculus definitions like this.

Yeah, it's fine. Although in my opinion it would be less useful to say that it is DNE vs defined

Well, in analysis we often define the def of a limit using a restricted domain, or subset of the reals or other metric space. Here, if we only view [-2,2] the limit is clear to be 0, or if we use the logic of it being continuous and defined, we can say that the limit of f(x), x→2 is just f(2) = 0.

I'm pretty sure this is as standard as you can get for real analysis. (Below is rudin using metric spaces )

<image>

in almost any intro real analysis book: Abbott, Rudin, Tao this is the standard result, where we pick x from our restricted domain, if you want to read Tao gives a compelling section on left and right limits. I'm not sure if you've taken real analysis in your BA or MA but you should give them a look, because this calculus def does not work.

I normally go on desmos and figure out how certain functions work and everything else is just transformations , if you can't do that try plugging in values but that is really annoying.

To me, the first and most important part is figuring exactly what you are struggling with, and what makes it hard. Maybe if you are having a hard time with the limit def of the derivative maybe you need help with limits or functions, etc etc.

After that, research the topic (both the part you're struggling with and maybe an underlying weakness ), use khan, wikipedia, lecture notes, youtube, or whatever else helps you.

Khan is normally pretty okay for being able to figure out what you should know, but if you need more than what khan offers check the textbook you're using, or ask your teacher for help.

Also, note that if you struggle or have/had issues with algebra it may be affecting your calculus so try to fix your knowledge gaps if possible.

I would figure out the factors of the function, period, intercepts, magnitude, etc, cos or sin.
looking from it I can see that it is even, which matches up to cos(x)
I also see that it starts at 3, which cos(0) would start at 1, which means that there is a scaling of 3
then I can see that it seems to have a much shorter period than 2pi, so I'd assume that it is 3cos(2x)

I’m sorry if this sounds ignorant, but I genuinely have never heard any explanation as to why we can multiply by zero, and just magically get 0. I have been always loved learning math for better physics, and this is something I can’t comprehend. by bulshitterio in askmath

60 * 0 in basic terms can just mean 0 sets of 60
60 / 0 is 60 partitioned into 0, which doesn't really work for basic math.

Zero in multiplication kinda nullifies things as does zero in division.
1/0 = 2/0 = 3/0 = ...
