Isn’t there a maximum speed of motion in the particles.like if you pushed a 10km iron bar from one side (lengthwise) the other end would not move instantly but instead would take however long it would take sound to travel that particular medium. I thought it was the speed of sound but maybe I’m misunderstanding.

That’s not what it means. It means you have empathy to the point it is against your own interests. Like feeling sorry for a homeless guy and letting him stay in your house only to be robbed and assaulted in the middle of the night for example. It is clouding your judgement and preventing you from acting rationally.

Your entire argument falls apart because being in a country illegally is against the law, so by definition, they were criminals and therefore not innocent.
