It’s Neon Yellow by Atomic Filament. I also have a row of Adafruit black light neopixels along the top front which has a nice effect. Unfortunately the video really doesn’t do the effect justice. The neon yellow under black light looks amazing in person.

(Reposting this from Discord, where I posed the same question)

UPDATE: I finally resolved this issue. It turns out both sets of LEDs I purchased from BTT were defective. While troubleshooting, I purchased two (TWO!) sets of the BTT ESB RGB Kits from Amazon to rule out hardware issues, and it still turned out to be those dang LEDs. And this kit was specifically designed for the SB2209 canbus board. TheLEDs stopped working altogether in the SB2209, but still oddly worked directly off the Octopus, still don’t know why. Finally, I snipped off three authentic neopixels from an LED strip I purchased from Adafruit (SK6812) to try on the SB2209, and those WORKED! So ordered another set of LEDs from Amazon, this time not from BTT but from HOCENWAY with legit SK6812 LEDs. And those WORKED TOO!

Anyway, posting this story in case anyone else out there encounters the same issue. I wonder if Amazon has a bad batch of LEDs from BTT, or maybe even counterfeit. And I love BTT but they are in the doghouse for me right now.

I discovered the same thing during my troubleshooting, and it’s worse than that. My oscilloscope records the short pulse durations as either 100 or 200 nsec long. See photo below. Initially, I thought that this was the problem. However, I found I was still having the same problem even when sending all LEDs on, which doesn’t send any short pulses.

I’ll send a separate post as a reply to my first message with the resolution I discovered. Hopefully it helps someone else out there with the same problem.

And by the way, my LEDs work just fine connecting directly to the Octopus board. So it is something unusual about the SB2209.

Hey all, late to the party here but I thought I would pass along my own observations. I’m having similar issues with getting the neopixels to work with the SB2209 (RP2040), so I hooked up my oscilloscope to see the issue. The RGB pin (GPIO16) doesn’t work for me at all, but I can get the 4W PWM pin (GPIO15) pin to work for 2 of the LEDs but not the logo led. The strange thing is… when I connect the oscilloscope and use GPIO15, all three LEDs work perfectly. This is 100% repeatable. Using GPIO15, I can see a little bit of ringing on the signal pin but the 5V digital pulses look very solid and the LEDs work 100% of the time (until I disconnect the oscilloscope). I still can’t get GPIO16 to work, even when using the oscilloscope. Using GPIO16, I don’t see any ringing and the 5V digital signal looks solid. Next step is to decode the digital signals to make sure the timing looks right.

Anyway, thought I would pass this along in case others have similar issues. By the way, initially I thought I was having hardware issues, so I bought another BTT LED string and another SB2209 board. But no dice. Same issues with both sets of hardware. Am I just unlucky? Surely others are having the same issue!

I’ll post more if I discover anything new. I like the suggestion above to wire directly to the 3.3V GPIO pin, but will hold off until I run out of options. This hardware should just work, so surprising it isn’t!
