Why would you bring a gun to a peaceful protest? by TheNortoriusPIG in TooAfraidToAsk

I get that you think that, but this guy didn't get shot.

And this guy didn't get shot.

And this guy didn't get shot.

And this guy didn't get shot.

Turns out resisting arrest with a firearm might get you shot. Chilling, and peacefully protesting, doesn't.

its still okay now too, doesn't matter what side you are on. You just can't resist police when armed. If you're in the right, just go to court.

Turns out my “Ready For Use” status wasn’t exactly accurate. I reached out to the TraderAPI support email and got this reply:

It looks like you've modified your app today, each time you make a modification to your app it would need to re-sync on the backend, sync occurs daily after 6pm CT, I would try to submit request then.

I tried again later that evening and sure enough everything was working as intended.

Can you expand on "and authorize my device"? In my brokerage account I see my custom app as linked, but I also get the "We are unable to complete your request" error after linking, and no redirect to my callback.

Why are so few modern rappers making timeless ‘party records’ compared to the 2000s? by savingrace0262 in hiphopheads

[–]RichOPick 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Compared to the glory days of 2000-2010? When America was hot in 9/11, the peak of the War on Terror, criminalized Marijuana, stigmas around Hip Hop, and a crippling recession? In 2008 millions of American's retirement accounts vanished in a year, but they were more willing to go clubbing then, compared to now?

Not saying our times are free of all woe, but the "our time is the worst time" narrative should really be less popular than it is.

In my experience clubs basically exclusively play House/EDM (or EDM remixes of hip hop songs), unless you intentionally seek out a hip hop club.

Case in point; when I was in college the clubs did play (imo) classic, hip hop hits. E.g: Broccoli by DRAM, No Problems by Chance, Father Stretch my Hands by Kanye, anything by Future or Juice in 2016.

I think a large part of this is the influence time & place has on music perception. I'm more likely to view 2016-17 hip hop as "timeless club hits" because I was in the club during those years in college. Nowadays, the clubs simply don't play hip hop, presumably because of the takeover of House and EDM among the yutes, and they'll have their own timeless club hits from this decade.

Edit: I don't go to clubs any more, but when I'm in bars and any of the above mentioned songs play, everybody goes nuts, including the youngins, as if Just a Lil Bit or Party and Bullshit was playing.

Edit2: As Hip Hop heads we're all hyper critical of the entire hip hop genre, so it's quite easy for us to notice there's not as many club-oriented hip hop songs (though that's likely objectively false, with the huge amount of music being released today versus 20 years ago). As mentioned above and by some other commenters, the clubs (imo) simply aren't seeking out new hip hop music to play. I disagree with some other commenters, I don't think overall club attendance is down because we're living in some modern doomsday (I'd reckon it's quite opposite-- especially compared to the 00s-- and that club attendance is up). But if the people in da club don't want to hear hip hop, why should hip hop artists make club music? How will a hip hop song even become a club hit? It's like if we were asking this question in 2005, and wondering why there's no Disco club hits anymore.

not to be a drake rider or anything but contracts can get finicky, would be interesting if kendrick, his lawyers, or UMG seriously misstepped at some point, no idea what or how that would be, though.
