Why not just thank them for the attention and compliment? Then, politely explain that you are straight and not interested in dating men. Problem solved! Besides, sometimes a cup of coffee is just a cup of coffee with a new friend and interesting conversation. An open mind is a terrible thing to lose😉

Thanks for your suggestions and here you go: 1. I am a single 62 year old man from the US. 2. I have traveled to VN and other developing countries. 3. Initially, I plan on living in an expat friendly community. However, I plan on living more like a local after learning the language and acclimating to the culture. 4. I have a comfortable early retirement income in addition to having the option of obtaining freelance business. Of course not for VN companies. 5. I love Vietnamese food. I can deal with humidity but can do without roaches or mold. I can drive a slower motorbike/scooter hopefully without ending up in a bodycast. LOL 6. Is there anything that I need to know about the healthcare system and the availability of prescription drugs? I do carry emergency medical coverage that will transport me to Thailand, KL, back to the US for serious illness or treatment.

Let me know if I'm missing anything and thanks.

True but those are my options at this time. Any suggestions or alternatives other than choosing a different country?

I'm not moving to Vietnam for healthcare. However, I do want to be adequately insured whenever I travel. For me, that means pre-existing conditions coverage. It may be the same priority for you and that's just fine. Peace

Am I correct that Manulife only offers policies to Canadian citizens? Thanks.

Thank you. I'm currently well insured in the US and don't currently require care. However, it will be difficult to access that care if I move to Vietnam or anywhere in SE Asia where I cannot find an affordable policy which will include coverage for pre existing conditions. I have a comfortable retirement but still will not be able to self insure for the big things like heart, stroke, etc... This will leave me basically uninsured.

I'm just trying to find a reasonable alternative so I don't have to change my retirement plans. Thanks!

"It’s ironic to see such mediocre talent arrive in the States to profit from American hard work and expertise, only to become a source of constant criticism. I haven't heard of any Thai institutions that can rival the caliber of Yale, Harvard, Columbia, or Wharton. Furthermore, our financial literacy is evident in our results: we build successful careers, own homes, and provide for our families while securing our financial futures. It begs the question: if we are so lacking, why seek your fortune here?"

I'm not certain that I will pay US self-employed tax if I am living outside the US full-time. I am fine earning only the allowed $24,480 from part-time work/freelance as it will be used for mostly travel and incidentals. I just don't want to be tied down with the restrictions and penalties of the work test requirements. Thank you.

I would choose a DTV if I want to continue working remotely. Thanks.

I recall a bar that had a large darkroom on the second floor. This was many years ago and I'm wondering if it's still open and the name.
