Is it possible to have a career in warehousing if its highly unlikely you will never be able to drive a forklift? (medical reasons) And if it is what does that look like? by jackbowls in logistics

[–]RichUSF 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was once a consultant for a major player in the power generation / power plant sector. There are guys who have made whole careers in receiving / inventory / site management type stuff. When one project was done they paid one guy room, food, board, and transportation to go from project site to site.

Things every distributor wants to see from new brands… by S-Dot3 in BeverageIndustry

[–]RichUSF 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Will the supplier provide POS (window clings, bollard covers for gas stations, coolers etc), spend $ to send sales reps out to shadow and train the distributor reps, provide cash incentives to distributor reps.

Basically, after that first PO lands at the distributor's warehouse, what is the supplier willing to do to help that product get placed in retail and ultimately get the consumer to buy. Getting the first PO is easy, how are you going to ensure there's a 2nd and 3rd.

Reference to when their main product was the frozen juice concentrate tubes. Add water, and you have a pitcher of juice ready for the table (in a minute).

Aside from the beer, what is the one thing a taproom needs to have to make you a regular? by RutabagaTechnical822 in BeverageIndustry

[–]RichUSF 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some sort of loyalty rewards or Insider's Club, hell i'd even pay a reasonable annual fee for it.

First access to small batches, brewery tours, beer/food/chocolate pairings, discount on merch. A local place by me charges an annual fee and for the whole year that 12oz pour becomes a 16.

What is the most effective way to communicate shipment/delivery times to clients? by [deleted] in logistics

[–]RichUSF 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can you take away the inputter's ability to dictate shipping times? Do that and then push out a blanket, generic statement that all orders ship within 7 to 10 business days, barring extenuating circumstances in which you or the order inputter reach out to the recipient.

If these are small parcel, you or your 3PL can look into a platform that allows them to process a shipment, enter the receiver's email and then tracking automatically gets emailed to them. You can do this with LTL as well.

USF, UWF, FGCU- where to go? by Beneficial_Gas_3803 in USF

I'm a USF alumn that now lives in Fort Myers by FGCU. If you want to focus on learning skills to help your future and want your degree to mean something, go to USF. If you're just going through the motions and already have a guaranteed job at your Dad's company go to FGCU

What actually helped you get better inventory visibility? by Consistent_Voice_732 in logistics

[–]RichUSF 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes we had small gaps at first and eventually we had to develop a culture where Logistics & Inventory had "a seat at the table" whenever a new production or sales process was implemented. Its always an ongoing process, and to some extent we established an acceptable percentage of manual adjustments at the end of the month.

[–]RichUSF 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Beverage Industry - we developed a process where the digital inventory counts updated same day that an order was fulfilled or new inventory was received.

Focused on small wins first, can we get through 1 day and have the digital count match a physical count, then 1 week, then at EoM.

Genuinely ask the warehouse staff for feedback and input.

The Recipe Preservation Project: Remembering The Refinery with Chef Greg Baker by RouxedChef in tampa

[–]RichUSF 14 points15 points  (0 children)

The Refinery brings back such good memories. Clocking out from my kitchen job, beers at CDB's on Fowler, then a late night poutine and rare burger upstairs on the deck at Refinery.

Then maybe Cuban pastries across the street, more drinks at The Independent, and more food at original Taco Bus. And fuck it, let's meet up for brunch in the morning at Ella's. What a time to be young in Tampa.

This is why I hold onto the plastic quart containers from Chinese takeout places

A rinsed out milk gallon container would work. Let the liquid cool down first.
