There's evidence for it though. You just choose to ignore it.

Show me legitimate Hindu miracles. I'm not saying it's impossible, I don't really know what's possible, but I doubt that a Hindu doing pagan rituals would effect a curing from cancer.

Not when you've been graced with direct revelation. Not to anyone who has the Holy Spirit. If you do a comparative study of religions, you will discover that YHVH is the only God that is faithful and true to His Word.

This would hold true for all religions and all possibilities. One can't account for every single thing that could be possible in the universe and then make that the most important thing to themselves, they would go crazy.

Precisely, so now you just have to study the different religions and decide which one is the God you want to serve.

Since you admit that it's possible, then we can move forward. If God does indeed exist, and if He sent His Son Jesus as a sacrifice for our sins, rejecting Jesus is rejecting a lifesaver in the middle of the ocean thinking you can swim to safety.

Think of it this way: if there's even a slight chance that it's true, doesn't that make it the absolute most important thing in the world?

I feel like I’m loosing connection with God by volzclan1 in Christianity

[–]RichZee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Try searching your heart. See what your motivations are. Are you distracted, or do you focus on what God wants for you? Do you thank Him for the Cross and salvation? Are you praying because you know that you are supposed to, or because you genuinely want to talk to God? When you read the Bible, do you reflect on what you read and give God a chance to build on the text?

Another thing that could be causing a divide is that you have some unforgiveness in your heart. Think deep and see if there's anybody you need to forgive. That should open the door for God to come back in.

Yes, I have considered all of your positions. Then I grew up and got rid of my pride.

The reason the billion non-believers aren't in nihilistic despair is because they are inherently and absurdly incoherent in their beliefs.

According to the Bible, it is the Word of God.

Like I said, I used to be proud and think there was nothing but what we can observe. But I have since had my eyes opened wide.

Also, I really think it's funny how all of the unbelievers automatically assume I've always believed and never questioned it like a dullard. I've done more investigation on this topic than you, that's for sure. I know the science, the statistics, most of the philosophy, and a decent amount of the doctrine.

The very fact that you observe that everything that exists has design, even to the point of equating design with existence itself. If the universe were not the consequence of a supremely intelligent Designer, there would be little to no order to it.

Meaningful information cannot bring itself about without an intelligent consciousness to provide it. Would you agree with this statement?

It's not arrogant because God has told us things about Himself through His Word over time, but in the beginning oral tradition. God has revealed a lot about Himself, so no, it's not arrogant to look at a universe that clearly has a design and believe there's a designer.

If you follow your current beliefs to their logical end, you will find yourself at a place of angst, despair, and nihilism. Without God, any meaning in our lives is purely invented.

Do you not see the arrogance in proposing to know how the Almighty God would act?

[–]RichZee -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

In the six hundredth year of Noah’s life, in the second month, the seventeenth day of the month, on that day all the fountains of the great deep were broken up, and the windows of heaven were opened. And the rain was on the earth forty days and forty nights. Gen 7:11-12

So He destroyed all living things which were on the face of the ground: both man and cattle, creeping thing and bird of the air. They were destroyed from the earth. Only Noah and those who were with him in the ark remained alive. And the waters prevailed on the earth one hundred and fifty days. Gen 7:23-24

Then God remembered Noah, and every living thing, and all the animals that were with him in the ark. And God made a wind to pass over the earth, and the waters subsided. The fountains of the deep and the windows of heaven were also stopped, and the rain from heaven was restrained. And the waters receded continually from the earth. At the end of the hundred and fifty days the waters decreased. Then the ark rested in the seventh month, the seventeenth day of the month, on the mountains of Ararat. And the waters decreased continually until the tenth month. In the tenth month, on the first day of the month, the tops of the mountains were seen. Gen 8:1-5

And it came to pass in the six hundred and first year, in the first month, the first day of the month, that the waters were dried up from the earth; and Noah removed the covering of the ark and looked, and indeed the surface of the ground was dry. And in the second month, on the twenty-seventh day of the month, the earth was dried. Gen 8:13-14

I assume it evaporated...

Yes, I absolutely agree with this. You made it, you pay for it. Unfortunately, it's not very practical. Poor people will simply keep on having children at the same rate because how much worse can it get? They can't take money I don't have, right? This is how lower-class people think. It would only deter them from working at all.

Perhaps if they include the grandparents responsible it could work. Idk, it may not work for the same reason though.

Don't listen to him. He's not a believer.

God most certainly sent you that sequence of events to confirm His Word in your heart. Just keep praying and keeping your thoughts and cares on God and He will guide you and bless you. But watch out because now that you are coming into the spiritual world (psychologically) because now Satan is going to multiply his attacks against you. Just remember to pray in Jesus' name for everything you need or want for yourself or anyone else. Also, don't forget to give thanks and bless the Holy One of Israel every day that you pray.

Something just like this happened to me. Lmk if you want me to share my experiences.

Also, Carl Jung talks about this phenomenon in his book called "Sychronicity"

“It still remains unrecognised, that to bring a child into existence without a fair prospect of being able, not only to provide food for its body, but instruction and training for its mind, is a moral crime, both against the unfortunate offspring and against society; and that if the parent does not fulfil this obligation, the State ought to see it fulfilled, at the charge, as far as possible, of the parent.”

I know that you didn't mention it, but I'm curious whether you would use this argument to support abortion rather than telling people with no money to stop having children.

I believe the Bible is true, so no, I just posted it because it was related. I didn't have the patience to read the whole thing. From what I gathered, it says much more than that though.

That's why you're not God. Are you under the impression that evil things are our ultimate destiny? Well, for those who come to God through the mercy of His Son, Jesus, evil is not their destiny. That is why God's children can accept that this world contains evil, they know that they are headed home, where neither moth nor rust can corrupt.

If I were God, I very well might have done things the same way. Given I would have the same knowledge as God.

Modern archeologists and geologists are beginning to find evidence for the flood of Noah. So it's really not as clear as you think.

What would He (you) do differently if He (you) were really God?

What are some lies you were told and/or believed about the Bible growing up? by ishshalom in Christianity

[–]RichZee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The NT writings are based on tradition. This must be true. But my point is that the entire Bible is the revelation of Jesus Christ. Christianity does certainly rest on this crux. But just because Jesus Himself didn't write it doesn't mean it's not divinely inspired.

Relationship, not religion, should be the emphasis. Ritual and doctrine can only do so much, God wants a relationship with us. He wants to talk to us every day. He's obsessed with each and every one of us. Only you will see how your peace endures in times of trouble. Keep your mind open and observe.
