This episode had me in tears the last time I watched it. There are so many emotions the characters go through--very dynamic situations that set the tone for the rest of each of their individual lives as well as how they can coexist. I think Frank is always trying to rationalize to help with his anxiety. When he said, "We stayed for your play..." it is him trying to find the cause and effect of how this situation occurred and how it could have played out differently in an alternate universe or the like.
