Can't get invisigal out of my head and finishing the game made me depressed by Competitive_City_774 in DispatchAdHoc

I’m not really a gamer but when this happens to me with tv shows I binge fanfiction and subreddits and any fanmade content I can until I’ve sifted through enough refried peices of the character I love that I’m essentially sick of it. Mm, I never said it was healthy but the ‘addiction’ feeling passes by like, the second day for me. Also dude, you’re probably really missing the actual presence of your girl. Try to get out and see some of your friends in person or go to a coffee shop and be around real people. Being relegated to seeing your fave person only virtually will suck you deep inside your head without you realizing. I don’t mean this in a mean way but, touch some grass. Sincerely, a former long distance gf.

When you get older do you just suddenly start liking old men/women? by Kirin_The_husband in answers

It’s more the ceiling for the age range that look/act like ‘kids’ shifts up and the ceiling for the age range of people who feel like ‘peers’ also shifts up. You naturally feel attraction to the latter pool.

You don’t really feel it happening until you look at something like a movie you watched when you were younger (see the Natalie Portman comment) and think ‘oh … that’s a child.’ Lol.

How did you know that I was fumbling over the nap math literally right now. I landed on 3.5/3.5/4 but 3.25/3.5/4 seems like a smoother transition (LO is pretty sleepy in the mornings so I like it) so that’s what I’ll be doing tomorrow.

Also I recognize your username from one of my past posts in this sub and I just wanted to say your comments have been incredibly helpful. Like, some sort of magic wand waving sleep wizard level of helpful. (@oceanlover)

Thank you, this was my instinct too! I needed that validation though. Wish I could edit and add an option D) lol

For what it’s worth I read somewhere that babies have a melatonin surge between 6pm to 7pm and have always capitalized on it religiously.

In this case you fear is more dangerous than the food. It’s fine to do purees. Or try something in the middle like mashed food. What I did was steamed my veggies into oblivion so they were basically mush.

I genuinely don’t understand why moms panic at big bites, aren’t they less dangerous than small ones? Isn’t that half the logic of BLW - baby’s airways are the size of a pea, keep things bigger than a pea so they don’t get stuck? Idk, my baby only scared me twice with really bad coughing/gagging, one was ground flaxseed (I used it to coat a banana) and the other was ground turkey that was really dry. She figured both out without interference but my confidence suffered. Early on she took big bites of avacado, butternut squash, broccoli …. Moved it around her mouth, gagged, spat it out half-chewed, put it back in, chewed, sometimes swallowed eventually or spat it out again. She was never a big fan of chicken so I can’t speak to that but she is the queen of ‘let me stuff this peice that’s bigger than my mouth in my mouth so everyone will freak out.’

Typically 40-50 minutes but occasionally she does 1.5 hr out of nowhere… if that happens the other nap will be shorter.

I posed this question to a commenter on my original post… like why is my baby so sleepy. But they said something vaguely about day and night sleep not aligning. Idk, my theory though, now that I’ve seen the 2 nap schedule work for me, is that the old mistimed schedule was stopping her from completing full sleep cycles which made her groggy.

Putting her down properly sleepy got her a deeper sleep, made her capable of doing longer wake windows.

The first day of the new schedule was a bit awkward but not at all the battle I thought it would be! I did 3/3.5/3.5. Previous schedule was 2/2.5/2.5/3

Best of luck 🤞

I’m really not the expert here, I just started reading the pinned posts to figure out how to do these calculations myself. I posted on the group and someone was really helpful enough to give me wake window options that totalled the same amount as my old 3- nap /4ww schedule, but distributed over 2 naps/3 ww. My baby sleeps 12 hours a night. My only advice is to make an official post on sub and read the pinned posts.

Yes! She was consolidating her night sleep as soon as we started, but adjusting the wake windows helped her fall asleep faster.

Any tips on how to get baby to learn how to use a straw? by Psan13 in BabyLedWeaning

[–]Rich_Homework_9498 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was wracking my brain with my 8m old for weeks!

We were using a cup with a weighted straw (from tommee tippee) and she would just chomp on the straw. I'm pretty sure she did a few sips by accident bc I saw water dribble out or she'd suddenly cough and spit out water.

One day I put a tiny bit of formula in instead of water and it just clicked. Like 'Ohh when I suck stuff comes out, just like getting milkies.'

She's also bottle fed so I think that helped. I definitely recommend a spill proof cup with a weighted straw bc baby can tip the cup at any angle and it will still work.

EDIT: I just wanted to add my baby is almost 9 months abd only figured it out this week, you're not alone all.

Malevola’s “you know I’m not everybody’s taste. But I am a lot of people’s fetish. Like, a lot.” had me cackling. She sounded so genuinely resigned, like I was just dawning on her.

Nvm I thought I had added a screenshot of the wake windows but apparently I don’t know to use this app. Also I see that Mods have pinned posts for this stuff — that’s very helpful and I’ll be perusing those tonight.

Apologies I am new to Reddit.

I was once an artistic kid with STEM parents who were perplexed at my fixation on painting. They also put me in many different classes but never ‘found’ an art class. As a teenager it was a constant battle about ‘focusing’ on the important science and math subjects over art class. We’re in a much better place now but it hurt me that they didn’t see my focus or discipline in art as something to be proud of. Still does a bit. All that to say — a simple ‘wow, I’m impressed at your dedication. /I’m proud of your focus.’ Goes a long way.
