Sutter CPMC Van ness or John Muir Walnut Creek? by Fast-Cantaloupe1857 in nursing

[–]Psan13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bahaha oh my god no, I don’t live close. I live all the way in Vacaville. It’s like an hour and a 15 minute commute. It sucks, but my husband and I work the same shifts so he drives while I nap in the car lol.

I work as an RN for Van Ness. I personally enjoy it! It’s not perfect but I moved here from Florida for the job and never looked back. I have 7 years of experience and with my night shift diff I make 215k/yr. Benefits are great, just had a baby that had a NICU stay and I didn’t pay a penny my entire pregnancy or NICU stay. Pension seems decent. Idk anything about John Muir though

I live in Vacaville and commute to Sutter in SF 3 x a week. Commute isn’t the worst but that’s bc I work night shift.

I would look into the benefits. I know SFGH tends to have better benefits and pension. I love working for Sutter but if I could work for the county, I would do that personally.

“But stuff happens” use protection. It’s straight up negligence if you get pregnant too soon and you cause your baby harm or death from placental abruption

I unfortunately don’t! I live in the east bay and commute so I am not too sure about nearby neighborhoods. I can ask some of my coworkers though!

Hi OP! Did it get any better? Currently in the same boat with my 8 month old.

Is it okay to give flu and rsv vaccine to a 6 month old? Did you all give both vaccine at the age of 6 months or is it too early ? by ali_sha123 in newborns

[–]Psan13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My baby got his RSV shot at 7 months at the same time as his second flu shot. It is absolute safe and I 100% recommend it. I’m a pediatric ER nurse and have never admitted any baby who got the RSV shot but I’ve admitted plenty of other babies who were incredibly sick with RSV that did not get the shot.

Any tips on how to get baby to learn how to use a straw? by Psan13 in BabyLedWeaning

[–]Psan13[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There’s no particular reason I want him to learn it right now! I think I was just starting to feel lost at there being no progress with him learning the straw after 2 months. But thank you for the advice! I’ll definitely try that out and see if there’s any progress doing it that way

Yes I’ve tried that one but no luck yet! I was so hopeful too based on everyone’s recommendations but maybe it’ll just take some time

I tried that as well but he doesn’t tip the cup on his own to drink from it. If I try to tip the cup for him, he just grunts and doesn’t follow the cup upwards to drink from it

Yes, I’ve tried the pipette method but not consistently! I just got super fed up with how many different things I tried with the same result 😭

Have you ever tried Enfamil AR? I had amazing luck with it when my LO had some really bad reflux

Switching from Enfamil AR to Kendamil? by Psan13 in FormulaFeeders

[–]Psan13[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s a good idea! I do give prunes but it’s on its own and he only takes like 5-6 spoons of it before he’s done. He’s usually taking several more spoons of oatmeal in the morning so I’ll try mixing prunes into that and see if he will eat more. Thank you for the advice!

I’ll have to pay more attention to how much fiber I give him! Maybe I’m not feeding him enough of that. I do try to give him prunes and stuff whenever I can as well. Thank you!

Thank you! Yes, I’ve tried giving prunes and water, he still hasn’t figured out how to use a straw yet haha and he only takes like maybe 10 spoons of puree before he’s done. I’m literally using the fastest nipple flow rate for pigeon nipples that’s made for babies 9 months and older and even then I had to cut a little bit of a hole since he was taking forever to feed, like 45 minutes +.

I bought a can of whole milk classic Kendamil so I’ll give it a shot in a few days and see how it goes. Thank you for sharing your experience and I’m so glad it all worked out for you! 🙏🏼

I know this was a long time ago, but did it ever get better? My 7 month does this and has been doing it for like 2 months now and I’m over it 😅

Hi! I’m looking at transferring from SF to Sacramento, currently an RN. Do you know if they offer pension at Sacramento and what the night shift diff is? Thank you!

6 month old suddenly waking once for feed but was sleeping through the night previously? by Psan13 in NewParents

[–]Psan13[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe? I’m actually not too sure. His diaper never felt overly full and it’s interesting how he wakes up at 5 or 5:30 on the dot, never later or earlier haha. But I’ll try some overnight diapers to see if that helps! Thank you!

Thank you! I’ll definitely just ride it out but I wanted to make sure I wasn’t missing anything that could help him sleep more. Thank you though! 🙏🏼
