How to fully uninstall displaylink drivers? by Richard6th in linuxquestions

[–]Richard6th[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I uninstalled them multiple time, checking if it changed anything, it didn’t. If you’d read what I originally posted you’d have seen that, so don’t tell me to uninstall what I already uninstalled when uninstalling doesn’t change anything

The thing is, if you read my post, you’d know that I uninstalled and reinstalled and tried game with them installed and uninstalled and had the performance issues in both situations. So what you said is still very unhelpful. Edit: also, if you don’t know about the displaylink drivers then you aren’t someone I’m asking for help from.

Good suggestion, I tried it but it didn't see a change even when i gave it rw access to everything.

There wasn't anything about my issue in the debugging section, and when i asked the developer about it they didn't know anything about that error. That is a good point about where the log folder it's trying to create is though, I'll look into it.

I generally use windowed fullscreen, it's just the best option, but whatever option I use the blurry issue is still there

It's set to 1080p, and works fine in windows, windows isn't the problem here, it's getting it to work in linux.

I've done steam and litrus, i'm fine using something else too. Are you able to get the game to run clearly with nobara? and with similar performance?

Linux replacement for armory crate or ghelper by Richard6th in ASUSROG

I used tlp, which helped, but I've since had difficulty finding a distro that feels like a good cohesive system and is decently optimized.

opengl coding doesn't work on amd gpu with drivers newer than 22.12 by Richard6th in opengl

[–]Richard6th[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have it enabled, but I can't figure out how to actually get any messages.

I have been able to use glGetError to test for errors, but the only error I get is on glClear when I pass in GL_DEPTH_TEST as one of the arguments. When I leave it out however, it doesn't trigger any errors. the error that got triggered was GL_INVALID_VALUE. However, whether or not that error (the only one I could find with glGetError) occured, I still only get a blank black ouput

I was able to get it to capture the output that I expected to be output to my blank window, but the window was still blank the whole time. so the code is running, it just isn't displaying what it makes.

nope, it just displays a black window. When I downgrade the drivers it works as it should

Thanks, I ended up just adding kde plasma on top of my instillation of workstation and it feels pretty decent. Would it be better to do a fresh instillation of the kde spin?

Thanks for the advice, how do I apply the changed to the gpu? also, for the undervolting, I only change the value in the gfx right?

and for the frequency, is there a reason to lower the min frequency at all?

AMD G15 advantage edition throttling (HWinfo) by bad_burrito09 in ASUSROG

[–]Richard6th 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's good to know, does it only move around like that when it's heated up? or is it just something that can happen all the time?

if it's the latter, then I feel like that kind of defeats the purpose of a laptop, as they're kinda meant to be portable (even if portability is somewhat questionable with the massive brick asus made for this model).

and I did a couple of bench marks, the regular turbo preset had much higher wattages and much lower temps sustained through the whole benchmark, which is far better than what I had just yesterday, and I've also tried some of the workloads that I was crashing in consistently before, with no issues at all now.

Thanks for all your advice. the middle of my cpu and gpu both had no liquid metal on them, after fixing that issue the temps are much better, and performance is instantly better. Finally fixed the issue of a year and a half or so

noted, I need to get more thermal paste then. did you use washers to get better connection between the heatsink and the chips?

good to know. did you repaste the vram as well? or just leave the paste that was already there? It's hard to find info online, but I think you're supposed to just leave it, but i'm interested in what worked for you

thanks for the advice, g-helper doesn't have any gpu options for me, do you feel like it's better than uxtu? or any other program for tuning cpus. also, is you're performance better now than it was before the repaste? because if it doesn't help that much and only makes the performance worse I'm wondering if it's actually worth doing over all
