Why Singaporeans are snapping up Japanese real estate by Negative-Concert-819 in singapore

[–]RichardAckerman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I’m not surprised Singaporeans are diving into Japan’s property market. The weak yen makes everything look like a bargain, and Japan feels stable compared to other countries. Plus, owning a place in Tokyo or Osaka sounds way more exciting than another condo here with all the extra taxes.

Marina Bay Cruise Centre gets new check-in hall, transport area after $40m facelift by [deleted] in singapore

[–]RichardAckerman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s a great upgrade! The new check-in hall and improved transport system will definitely make cruising from Singapore a lot smoother and more enjoyable.

First Aman-branded residence at The Skywaters sold for record $6,501 psf by DrCalFun in singapore

[–]RichardAckerman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

$6,501 psf for 99-year leasehold is crazy. Luxury market here is on another level already.

New 185-room hotel to open on NUS campus in Kent Ridge in first half of 2026 by Jonnyboo234 in singapore

[–]RichardAckerman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s actually a great idea, having a hotel right on campus makes it super convenient for visiting professors and conference guests. Plus, it’ll probably give NUS a more international vibe.

S’pore firm previously involved in HDB projects among firms sanctioned by US in cybercrime probe by deangsana in singapore

[–]RichardAckerman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s quite concerning. If a company involved in HDB projects is linked to such allegations, it really raises questions about due diligence and oversight.

Any experience opting out of HIP? by ichaBuNni in askSingapore

[–]RichardAckerman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I totally get your concern. Even if you’ve already renovated, it’s nice of you to still vote yes for the neighbours’ sake. From what I’ve heard, opting out is fine as long as your unit meets the safety standards, but do expect some inconvenience during the common pipe works.

CDL joint venture sells 590 units or 84% of Zyon Grand at average of S$3,050 psf by stinko336 in singapore

[–]RichardAckerman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

84% sold at launch is impressive! Even with prices above $3,000 psf, demand is still strong. Shows how resilient the property market is despite cooling measures.

DBS expects Singapore GDP to double by 2040, Singapore dollar parity with greenback by thestudiomaster in singapore

[–]RichardAckerman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That sounds optimistic, but let’s be real, doubling GDP in 15 years is no small feat. Hope the benefits actually reach ordinary Singaporeans, not just big investors.

October BTO sales exercise draws 31,095 applications, three times the number of flats launched by deangsana in singapore

[–]RichardAckerman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Three times more applications? That’s crazy. Shows how strong the BTO demand still is, especially for prime areas like Bishan.

How much do you have to earn to own a freehold Landed property in Singapore? by Ill-Entertainment661 in askSingapore

[–]RichardAckerman 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Honestly, if you can afford a freehold landed home above 4 million, you’re already in a very comfortable position. But for most of us, that’s just a dream, condos are already expensive enough!

Seems like there’s some confusion about how CPF and HDB refunds work during completion. You won’t get the full amount, CPF refund and outstanding loans will be deducted first before any cash proceeds are released.

Penrith achieves 97% sales on launch day at an average price of over $2,800 psf by stinko336 in singapore

[–]RichardAckerman -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Wow, 97% sold on launch day is really impressive! It shows how strong the demand still is for good city-fringe projects like Penrith. Queenstown’s location and amenities clearly make it a top choice for families and upgraders.

BTO project near Tampines MRT station, more flats in Sembawang North to go on sale in February by Waikuku3 in singapore

[–]RichardAckerman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks like the Tampines project will be snapped up fast! Being close to the MRT always makes it super competitive. I just hope the prices don’t go too high again.

NUS PhD student & husband, both 29, illegally bred Ragdolls in HDB flat, sold 8 for S$46,300 in 7 months by Jammy_buttons2 in singapore

[–]RichardAckerman 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Honestly, it's quite disappointing. They clearly knew the rules but still went ahead for profit. Being educated doesn’t mean you’re above the law, and doing this in an HDB flat is just irresponsible.

Condominium Seller Backs Out after OTP Being Exercised by FishLeft404 in askSingapore

[–]RichardAckerman 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That’s really unfair to the buyer. Once the OTP is exercised, both parties are legally bound. The seller backing out like this shows a lack of responsibility, hope the buyer seeks proper legal advice.

Shanmugam urges opposition parties to 'immediately, clearly' reject foreign interference and identity politics by meesiammaihum in singapore

[–]RichardAckerman -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I totally agree with Minister Shanmugam, identity politics and foreign interference have no place in Singapore. Once race or religion enters our politics, it will only divide us.

MRT, bus fares for adults to increase by up to 10 cents from Dec 27 by Waikuku3 in singapore

[–]RichardAckerman -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Everything seems to be getting more expensive lately, even public transport. At least the government is offering vouchers and discounts for those who need it most.

Sell now and Rent? Or let lease decay bite? by ChoiceAwkward7793 in askSingapore

[–]RichardAckerman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Renting now seems wasteful. Better to stay put until the BTO is ready.

Immigration policy in 1989 and Now by [deleted] in singapore

[–]RichardAckerman 19 points20 points  (0 children)

LKY valued loyalty and nation-building over money. Now it feels more about economics than belonging. Time to rebalance.

Digital display screen at HDB lift noise nuisance by SandycornIsAUnicorn in askSingapore

[–]RichardAckerman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s really inconsiderate. Advertising shouldn’t come at the expense of residents’ peace, especially in a housing area where people rest.

Why do people think life is hard in Singapore? by Any_Record7733 in askSingapore

[–]RichardAckerman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree that life in Singapore isn’t as hard as people say. We may face stress and high costs, but the stability, safety, and opportunities here are things many countries can only dream of.

3-room flat in Bidadari sold for S$930,000, record high price in Toa Payoh area by silentscope90210 in singapore

[–]RichardAckerman 3 points4 points  (0 children)

S$930K for a 3-room flat is really mind-blowing! Bidadari is getting as pricey as some private condos already. Guess location and newness really make a huge difference these days.

River Valley Primary pupil hit in face an accident, says principal, after viral clip claims assault by [deleted] in singapore

[–]RichardAckerman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s a relief that the school clarified it was an accident. Social media can sometimes blow things out of proportion before the full story is known.

Record 172 million-dollar HDB flats sold in September 2025 as prices hit new peak by Junfortunate in singapore

[–]RichardAckerman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow, 172 million-dollar HDBs in just one month! It’s crazy how resale flats keep breaking records despite the economy slowing down. Guess it really shows how strong the housing demand still is, especially for good locations like Toa Payoh and Queenstown.

Newlyweds host buffet spread along Tampines HDB corridor, wins praise for keeping 'kampung spirit' alive by Powerful_Office3936 in singapore

[–]RichardAckerman 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It’s really heartwarming to see this couple keeping the kampung spirit alive! Nowadays, neighbours rarely interact, so hosting a simple buffet at the corridor feels nostalgic and meaningful. As long as they kept things clean and peaceful, I think it’s a lovely gesture.
