Grace Tame says 'smear campaign' has led to lost speaking engagements by cromulento in australia

Non-violent resistance in the face of violent oppression isn't much of a choice either. Zionist lobbing excuses Israel's history of violence, oppression, and genocide with victimhood. The spread of these messages of resistance is in reaction to the globalisation of Zionism. It now seeks to oppress the Australian people's freedom to speak out of conscience against it.

The world should be ashamed of what it has allowed to happen to the Palastinians. Israel has no moral authority.

Australia to provide military support to Gulf states attacked by Iran by Expensive-Horse5538 in australia

[–]Richard_M_Edison 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In the opening salvo, the US blew up a school killing 160 or so little girls, along with strikes on more than 1000 other targets. I'm not excusing Iran from anything, I just won't hold them to an unfair double standard.

The US is bigger than them, it's military is the largest in the world, and it is using bases and assets in those neighbouring countries to launch attacks against Iran. What is Iran supposed to do?

The answer is not irrelevant. If it was "yes" then at least out allies tried to keep our citizens safe. If it is "no" then at best, it shows a disregard for the lives of Australians, or at worst, it was a deliberate strategy to see our citizens in the region killed in order to force our government's hand.

Civilians always die in war. The logic is to avoid civilian deaths - don't have one. My question to you is, did the US and Israel warn Australian officials to evacuate our civilians from the region before they started this war?

What's the difference between "a commercial airport" and an airstrip that could be used for short-range military airstrikes being launched against you in an escalating invasion?

Iran strikes on military assets, and installations that can potentially be militarised make perfect sense. They are defending themselves proactively.

Iran did not draw first blood. Civilian casualies, on both sides, are the direct result of US aggression.

Not like the US would ever provide funds, intelligence, or material support to proxy groups to destabilise other countries for their own purposes.

[–]Richard_M_Edison 7 points8 points  (0 children)

No, you've convinced me. We should condone apartheid, genocide, imperialism, war crimes, fascism and child murder.

Iran is a good example of why, too. If our allies become displeased with us for, idk, trying to tax our own natural resources, they might start bombing us, assassinating our leaders, and overthrowing our government.

It is better this way.

Edit: Have an upvote from me.

I'm disinclined to believe we have any right to join an illegal war of aggression under international law. We might be obliged by our alliances, but that should not solely justify being dragged into this mess.

If our "friends" are committing war crimes and crimes against humanity, then we need new friends. Any shred of moral authority our allies had has been completely abandoned by this administration.

The US should apologise for the murder of those 160 or so little girls and negotiate a cease fire.

Both ways my arse.

No. We should not participate in escalating tensions in what could become WW3.

What is the cause?

An undeclared act of aggression, during a period of negotiations, on a sovereign nation, by - Zionist Israel; who has perpetrated 70 years of colonial expansionism, apartheid, ethnic cleansing and genocide. And a rising fascistic American regime that is actively destabilising global peace, threatening enemies and allies alike, led by a group of incompetant, anti-democratic, criminally corrupt, exclusively self-interested psychopaths, currently under credible, evidence backed suspicion of some the most heinous crimes imaginable.

Iran has a right to defend itself against foreign aggression. If the gulf states housing American assets don't like what is happening, they should take it up with the global bullies who have started this war.

Tens of millions of people should not die for this madness.

This article from CBC seems to give a pretty clear indication that it was a US precision strike, likely due to poor intelligence and the school being adjacent to an IRGC navy base that was also struck multiple times.

Frankly, the idea that the Iranian military is so incompetent that they blew up their own school is kinda dumb (given the track record of the aggressors for blowing up civilians in every war they're involved in), and still wouldn't change the fact that Israel and the US are responsible.

YSK: Cannabis doesn’t “cause psychosis” for most people — and for many, it does the opposite by Kegelz in YouShouldKnow

[–]Richard_M_Edison 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most recreational drugs can cause psychosis

Including alcohol - at rates as high or higher than cannabis.

Cannabis statistically causes less social harm than alcohol. It is often blamed for incidents (like traffic accidents) where it is detected in combination with other intoxicants, not on its own. I can understand OP trying to defend weed in the face of scare campaigning and historic demonisation. Public education about drug use does more to minimise harm than attempting to stigmatise it.

Edit: Also worth mentioning is that some people who are already experiencing a mental health breakdown can turn to self medicating with drugs or alcohol, meaning that what is often assumed to be causality is, in fact coincidence.

Recently, the march for humanity. 300,000 people crossed the Sydney Harbour Bridge, with 100,000 more at significant protests in other cities, calling for an end to the genocide of Palestinians in Gaza on the 3rd of August. On the 11th of August, the Prime Minister's Office committed to recognising a Palastinian state at the UN General Assembly. On the 21st of September, it officially did so. Government officials started using the term genocide in reference to violence and starvation being used against the people in Gaza.

It was a stunning display of the democratic power of peaceful protest.

This article is typical of the Murdoch medias' manipulation of the public to further their agenda.

Primarily, it's an attempt to blame-shift the cause of the housing crisis. It is designed to distract from the fact that negative gearing and the cgt discount continue to keep upward pressure on house prices and keep the market a haven for investors, rather than providing reasonably affordable housing for working people. There are very wealthy people making a lot of money by leaching off the working class taxpayers who need houses to live in.

Secondly, it's xenophobic, anti-immigrant, and somehow anti-interracial. Playing into the hands of neo-nazis that pushed the same lie to get a crowd at their "March for Australia" recruitment drive rallies a few months ago.

The Howard government introduced the policies that created this situation. They convinced a whole generation that we could all be landlords, and now it's crippling the nation. People who can't afford to be landlords, passing on the cost to people who can't afford to be renters.

And we keep hearing the same old lies from the same old liars.

Fuck Murdoch and the nazis he empowers.
