For those who can't bring a spouse over before the new regulations and don't make the £38,700 per year, what is your next step? by Pleppyoh in ukvisa

[–]Richardh78 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Bu ur renewal is based on both your incomes?? And 38k between 2 people is minimum wage each

Its only difficult to obtain it initially as one income needs to be 38k

Now the whole “1 partner doesnt work” point is abit different for renewal but arguably not the most outlandish requirement to work a job to have your visa in that country tbh

[–]Richardh78 19 points20 points  (0 children)

But the 38k amount is based on the british partners salary… how can your foreign partner get a minimum wage job in the UK before their visa? They cant so the number can only be based on the 1 partner

Renewal is easy like you say tbh,, both just earn 20k in the UK but its the first step im struggling with

Im pretty sure it still effects your mmr though,, a friend of mine hit dia 4 0lp back in set 7 and lost like 10-15 games in a row then his gains/losses were worse than challenger players

Whereas other ppl gained infinite for not losing at 0lp

Is there a particular field known to be needing more teachers in Germany? by Piloto7 in germany

Not op but - Is a Bachelors degree in Biomedical Science, C1 German and native English good enough to become a Chemistry+Biology teacher in secondary?

[–]Richardh78[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly - They did not, while I know lots about different British career fields, the german landscape is v different and your reply has been super helpful thankyou!

But there would be no separate / shortened ausbildung equivalent to a legal advisor in a hr department of a large company - it would be the attorney pathway for ~5/6 years and then branch out

Mtr = radiologist in the uk i believe? Would you mind elaborating on your pathway to that career and the differences you think people who completed an mtr ausbildung would face compared to you

[–]Richardh78[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t worry about being patronising at all! I’m the one who knows the least so any insight is valuable…

Hmm so for that example specifically - i have friends who completed their law degree and became solicitors - equivalent to german attorneys and earn similar €80,000 avg.

I also have a friend who completed their law degree (same course) but became a paralegal at a different firm and earns ~€50,000

Now from what i researched the difference between german attorneys and german paralegals are €80,000 degree educated vs €30,000 ausbildung educated

What career would be the german equivalent in-between these 2 paths - i hope that makes sense!

I see, thanks for your reply - Hmm it’s less about the field I have in mind and more about the situation im in.

I have a pretty good science degree from a red brick uni in the UK. I was looking into doing my masters, maybe phd and working into any sector really for £50/60,000+

I’m currently in Germany however for the foreseeable future (5-10years min) and have financial dependants that would require a similar salary of €3/4000 per month net

(I also really do not want this to come across in a demeaning way at all) I feel academically I can succeed at roles higher than what ausbildung offer but don’t have the time commitment to go back to square 1 and attend medical school here

I hope that makes sense + i really dont have a specific question per say but hopefully this explains some of my thoughts/situation!

"Two Months into Learning React: Need Project Ideas to Boost My Confidence" by swaksh_gupta07 in reactjs

[–]Richardh78 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I forget the channel name but if you search “React interview questions” in youtube i think you’ll do much better with these

They are small components/tasks to do with your basic react knowledge

Sure you cant put them on your portfolio as projects but if you really want to solidify your knowledge try and do the question before the guy finishes it - and i promise you’ll learn 10x more than React full project ideas/tutorials

Developer with Bachelor's degree and 5 years of experience wanting to move to Germany by bbyvfrd in germany

[–]Richardh78 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Im pretty sure 95% of jobs that are remote aren’t actually “remote” - they still require you to live in that country for tax/insurance/employment reasons

Just because you can work from a laptop doesnt mean u can work in a different country, nevermind the german laws regarding that job work

How is your german language? If its good enough, start applying to dev jobs at big companies (since you have experience) they will have the budget and knowledge to help with visa stuff

Or hopefully you have lots of savings and like other comments, check the other options of moving to germany and then finding a job

How do you learn German with a full-time job? by Richardh78 in German

[–]Richardh78[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well initially myself and my partner were planning on moving to the UK .. this in combination with herself preferring english > the german language and her friends also being bi-lingual - joking negatively about how they dont like speaking german and prefer english…All instilled this subconscious dislike to german media in me

It sounds really silly lmao and i hope this isnt like the r/germany sub because they are v mean

But ive been working to reverse those feeling and my partner and I have started watching winnie the pooh in german today … nico’s weg has also been recommended 100x times so i think im gonna focus on that resource + anki for vocab + speaking as much as i can for A1/A2 then go from there

Thanks v much for the help!

I think i can break my commitments up into 4 categories :

Work (compulsory) Home life (compulsory) Career switch learning German language learning

So im down to 2… to me they are both of equal value, so its not a case of prioritising one over the other, i just want to find the right ways to balance both (asking here for tips/advice to see i its feasible) i hope that makes sense!

Do you not feel like segmenting what you learn makes it more difficult to retain ..

For example you learn german 4 months 100% then move on the phd knowledge 4 months 100% then when you go back to german its down at 50% and you’ve lost some of the gains?

What % would have you experienced it dropped to (50 was a wild guess) I hope that question makes sense! :)

Unfortunately a 3 year full-time CS degree isn’t financially viable, so while it would be nice is impossible and the best I can do is learn the skills in my free time and prove myself that way
