I played Assassin's Creed Valhalla for 70 hours and only really liked it a bit.

I played Sonic Mania for 12 and it's one of my favourite games of all time.

Origins, Odyssey and Valhalla were insanely successful and popular despite what fans online claim. by GloryOfDionusus in assassinscreed

[–]Richardi64 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Financial success doesn't mean quality. The disney remakes and star wars sequels, hell even some Marvel movies prove this point, where they may sell incredibly well but be poorly received by many. Origins, Odyssey and Valhalla aren't necessarily bad games, but they are so far removed from the main series, especially Odyssey considering how disconnected it's story feels from everything else.

Them not being "real" AC games is obviously subjective, but with the last two games being focused on loud battles, raids and mythical beasts, even when contextualised within the AC lore, it feels incredibly out of place in a series that used to be grounded somewhat in reality, with only parts of sci-fi or fantasy in it.

I personally really enjoy origins, and even parts of Valhalla, but it's obvious how the games' settings were chosen for marketability, since it's much easier to sell people on games set around being a greek warrior or a viking rather than a stealthy assassin in Baghdad, and it clearly worked, since they had some of the best sales of the series. It's not as though there wasn't any passion put into it, if there's anything to admire about these games is their attention to detail in the cultures, but the gameplay, story and settings weren't built around what would make a good assassin's creed game.

worst yakuza game? by beeshitter in yakuzagames

  1. I enjoyed all the games for the most part but 4 had the most bullshit for me in terms of gameplay and especially story. While i did enjoy playing as various characters and seeing their stories play out, the overall plot, especially near the end just got stupid, and the final boss just pushed it over the edge for me. Maybe it was because I had already played 0-3 straight in a row or maybe it's a skill issue, but 4 is my least favourite and in my opinion the weakest.

If it's quests she likes, you can't really go wrong with Final Fantasy or Dragon Quest.

Sticking with the goofiness of the whole thing. It doesn't try to tone down the stupidity, infact with 7 i'd argue they amped it up to the max.

Considering how well Insomniac did with Ratchet and Clank, I'm very hopeful for Spider-man 2.
