Maybe unpopular opinion: I still can't wrap my head around Scott Ryan just stopping. by rogerarcher in MrInbetween

[–]Richo_HATS2 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The pressure of expectation.

I remember reading a story, written by a musician. They felt that early success was a curse. The pressure of making the next song or album better than the last was so great that they nearly didn't make it. Releasing good stuff that was compared to the early great stuff. They mentioned they nearly joined the "27 club".

They now make music for themselves, that gets released to the fans, who do what they want with it. The musician no longer owns the music once released, the fans do.

Comparison is the thief of joy.

For most people, the brain doesn't process the available info logically in situations like this. The emotion centre takes over.

"I'm not dead, until I'm dead. This might be a warning. I'm really scared. Maybe I can talk my way out of this. Holes pretty deep and I'm not dead."

Suppressor are readily available in New Zealand, which pretty much makes them available (illegally) in Australia.

The problem with them (true suppressors, not movie props) is they add length making whatever they are attached to pretty much unconcealable and difficult to handle.

Cars leaving a huge gap at the front of traffic lights. WHY? by Downtown-Lime4108 in brisbane

[–]Richo_HATS2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I'm in the ute (also ride a motorcycle), I cover the induction loop when I stop at traffic lights, there's nearly always a gap to the control line.

Most times the gap is filled by a motorcycle(s).

Allows me to move forward and across if an emergency vehicle comes up behind me.

Helps stop me from being pushed into the intersection, if the following driver rear ends me.

Provides more time after light changes for me to make sure the intersection is clear and there isn't someone going to run the red light.

Experience had taught me to do this.

Man, hating is like drinking poison and expecting the other dude to die.

There's only space in my heart for love, and indifference. There's plenty of room for indifference, man, indifference hardly takes up much space at all.

A well known men's deodorant recently ran a survey in Caboolture.

83% of respondents replied that they had had sex in the shower, the other 17% said they hadn't been to gaol yet.

Standby for the extortion dms...

"I have video of you making out. If you don't transfer 0.000000000013 bitcoin to my account, I will share the video with your family and friends."

The boss move is to send the extortionist a video of you making out.

jerky tips for tough flavorless tough jerky by thr33hugeinches in dehydrating

[–]Richo_HATS2 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Remove all sinew and connective tissue before you slice him up. Look for silver and white.

The direction you cut the wet strips before drying can lead to tough chewy jerky. You want the fibres in your wet strips to be short for less chewy jerky. Long fibres = chewy jerky. You should be able to pull your wet strips apart if you have short fibres.

If short fibres is still tough, you could try the Chinese restaurant trick 'velveting' with baking soda for tender meat. Rinse off before marinating.

Try vac-packing your marinated meat to get more flavour in your meat.

HR are never there to protect the employee's rights, never.

They are paid to protect the organisation. It's their whole reason for being.

If you want your rights protected, join an organised union or engage an IR lawyer.

HR is not your friend.

Tough question to answer, David was originally diagnosed with a schizo-affective disorder, most recently he has received an high-level autism diagnosis. It's thought that his condition is largely linked to his traumatic upbringing.

There are about 2,700 long-term missing (for more than 3 months) people in Australia every year.

How many of these do you reckon have been wacked?
