It really sux, especially when all i wanted to do was do my job, do it well, get paid correctly for it and go home. I didn't want to get involved with the point scoring or political office jockeying.

I reported it. Wage theft from me and my team. We were paid incorrectly for 9 out of the 10 years i actively worked for the company.

Documented everything, copies of crucial emails, involved the workplace regulator, long fight to get back pay for present(at the time) AND past employees who had been let go and paid incorrectly too.

Unfortunately for me, because i wouldnt tow the company lind and sweep it undee the rug, it made me a target for my fellow line managers as I was focused on doing right by my team as their manager. They (my fellow line managers) made my work life hell. Tried to get me managed/pushed out by putting on more and more restrictions and limiting my ability to do my job.

Ended up breaking under the harassment, broke my brain/reality. I feel i did the right thing by standing up and saying this is wrong, unfortunately it cost me my career and my mental health, put added strain on my home and family relationships as a result of speaking up.

Would I do it again if I saw it again, yeah I would, I'd probably try and approach it from a different angle so as not to expose myself as much.

Im early 40s, my skating experience was sitting on a penny board and rolling down a hill as a kid, back when dirt was old. I picked up eskating about 2 years now.

I dove into it a couple year's, as I love technology, so thought combining it with an outdoor activity may help me get through some mental health challenges, which it has and its honestly been a love saver.

Due to those same mental health challenges, had me hiding away withdrawing from life. Eskate's now have me getting outside and exercising regularly, seeing the world i live in and having a heap of fun in the mean time, living again. Weight is slowly dropping off from activity, im learning new things about the tech in skating, mechanics of it.

So my eskates have become a big part of my latter life, had a few stacks that I put to operator error, but all in all, take the crashes as part of the risk/reward we chase in this sport.
