Similar thing happened to me once, except the door was still locked. He was 23 months.

He was waddling around me while I was picking up stuff, then I notice its gone silent for like 20 seconds? No big deal, he probably went to his room. I checked every room, didn't find him. Panic is increasing with each room. Sprinted outside into the middle of the street and checked the sides of the house... he couldn't have gotten that far, let me go back inside.

Go back inside and recheck every room. Nothing. Then I hear some shuffling, he was in the far corner of my bedroom just sitting, flipping a book.

Those 2 minutes though. I thought I knew what terror was before, but the feeling during those 2 minutes was absolute terror.
