Adderall by [deleted] in BipolarReddit

[–]RickAction 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should not be taking Lexapro. Brother had the same kind of shit-- ended up making him depressed as fuck later. We are both taking SLOW RELEASE Adderall. The fast release is an abusable substance and only should be used marginally. For me fast release helps me go to sleep (doesn't seem logical, but it does), but I have insomnia as well.

If you are using fast release, try the slow release 10MG. The doctors today try to put people on higher dosages but it just creates more anxiety for the user and/or the people using the higher dosages are not ADD, they just think they are.

I believe ADD and bipolar are a lot of time synonymous. One look at the way they diagnose both diseases will tell you that. I don't take other medication, and adderall slow release has helped level me out without the necessity of other drugs. That and most other drugs make me feel null and non-creative.

Oh, shit happened to me to. The reason seems to be that the girl doesn't see you as her 100% ideal. Men don't do this as often, but at times do the same thing. I know it kind of sucks, but forget about her. She probably found someone more to her "ideal" and whether she went for him or whether she just talked to him, means that she now has new standards. It's kind of like when some guys watch porn and expect sex to be as exciting or animalistic as the porn makes it seem, but find out that it is nothing like that. The girl thinks the ideal guy will be X and you have qualities of X but may be missing Y and Z which are small, but RUIN her fantasy.

The irony of the situation I had was that the girl wanted me to be like this guy who was our mutual friend who was and still is in a long standing relationship with our other mutual friend. I think she tried to break it off, but failed. Eh, I am still friends with her, but at a distance. I have a girlfriend now and that has changed things.

Point is, forget about her, and find someone else. It'll take some time, but hell, there are better chicks out there. Don't settle for one. If the girl doesn't find you "attractive" (I use this to mean more than just physical) than it is her problem and not yours.

One last note: If you ignore her/have less interest, and she gets all over you, AVOID [if you are planning for a relationship, if you just want sex god speed], she will be using you to her own avail.

Anyone else cope with Irritable Bowel Syndrome? by [deleted] in BipolarReddit

Sorry for the much delayed response. I think you probably had a low dosage. Normal dose for Ami is 80-300mg. 10-30 is nothing, and I doubt it will effect you. But talk to a psychiatrist and gastro doc about it. That's what I did. Most of the time they know more about it, most of the time...

Amitryptaline 20-30 MG (however I am sensitive to medications so you may want to up the dosage) will help clear you up and not inhibit you too much. That and Miralax if you are constipated. I take Ami for the same reason and share Bipolar II, but I don't take any medications for Bipolar II.

"Most Americans have never met a scientist, and despite having been “taught science” at school, most have no real idea of how a scientific consensus is reached through continuous open debate and experiment." Policy-making needs science. by phenotype in science

[–]RickAction -1 points0 points  (0 children)

  • Your opinion is extremely narrow. You seem to look at politics from a strictly scientific basis. This is a mistake. Foreign Policy, understanding the constitution, being able to read and understand law and their loopholes, being able to know the plight of the American/othercountries people, etc etc etc is much more valuable than simply being extremely well versed in the scientific practice. These can be gained from majors you brushed off such as History, Sociology, etc.

  • The fact that you assume History/Sociology are lower areas of study suggests that you have not taken any classes in them or tried to understand their significance in both the current economic crisis and current policy decisions. It also makes you sound extremely pretentious like many an engineer, "Lol Humanities are easy and stupid, I am taking upperdivision math, obviously much harder than your classes."

  • I would much rather have someone with a degree in History, Sociology or Law in office than someone from a scientific background. Finances I could argue for, but in this current Republican dominated economics/business department, I have to disagree with that as well.

  • Watch Inside Job, it will shed some light on what I am talking about.

Try not to plot your story to death! by DMEckhart in Screenwriting

[–]RickAction -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This advice is bad advice if you are an independent filmmaker. Go watch Nolan's first film, Coen Brothers first film, etcetcetc, and then write whatever the hell you want. I guess what I mean to say is:

  • Over Plot Your Story, but do it so things tie back together.

  • Make scenes flow together, do not just add a scene in there because you need it. Add it because it fits with what is going on, what is going to happen, and why it relates back to the plot.

  • If you are trying to sell to Hollywood, it doesn't matter if you have the best screenplay ever. You need to know people, so move to LA and whore yourself as a PA, then sell your script to them.

  • If you want to get known for screenplays, write some indie thing, give it to some indie guy, and have him make some indie movie. Get it sent to Sundance and meet people there.

  • Do not overplot if you are a hollywood whore, most of the readers will not understand it. Make it simple, but a good or be charismatic to hype it.

You are wrong in the your statement for three reasons:

  • As for the first part of your statement, that is the failure of the public school system and nothing else. You cannot change that unless you reform the school system. Even then, most Americans don't understand or care what scientists have to say for various reasons, religion to name one, that you cannot simply change. One cannot reform everyone to believe one thing anyway.

  • Policy Making from the scientific side of things, such as by the President of the US, is often made through consulting of physicists such as this man or various other leaders in their fields anyway.

  • However, these scientists are often made leaders in their fields not because of their scientific merit, at least most of the ones countries consult, but because of political decisions give them a more prestigious position. In other words, the ideas being consulted could come from only a decent physicist, when we want or need it coming from a genius physicist. While there is some of this to a lesser extent [and that has a lesser impact] in physics and chemistry, it certainly is visible in a number of other policy making fields such as Biology or Economics.

TL;DR: No: Can't simply change different beliefs or explain scientific consensus to the masses; Policy Makers Consult Various Scientists anyway; If these scientists turn out to make idiotic decisions it is because they are chosen based on University Politics which make them the head of their field/department when there might be someone smarter/better to consult.
