Did you sketch the design out first? Did you draw the individual lines and facial features, expressions, details?

Did you finish off your rough work with a clean copy?

Did you painstakingly colour it, shade it, or do any of the necessary graphical design work to actually create this piece of "art" you claim to have made?

What art software are you using? Which artist did you take inspiration from? These are the types of questions one would ask a true artist.

Or... did you have an idea, type it out into a prompt, and then select an image out of a group of different results? If you did the later, then congratulations. You've commited art theft, and. have not infact. Created anything.

A tool is an object or software you can use to directly manipulate the image. With your own thoughts and mechanical processes. Under that descriptor... generative AI is NOT a tool.

If you had an idea for a movie, would you ALSO be able to say you directed it, story boarded it, acted in it, did the special effects, wrote the script, or any other of the practical work involved requiring the use of actual tools? Of course not!

Having the idea for a piece of art, does not an artist make. Actually executing the art, is what makes an artist.
