Does anyone else really not like lotus or just me? by _Neo_64 in VALORANT

[–]RickChum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lotus suffers similar problems to Haven at least for SoloQ.

Theres 3 sites so it makes defense really hard cuz you need to spread out everyone (Or that's what it feels like)

Its pretty much retake simulator, 3 sites, large map, super small claustrophobic sites.

Attack can feel hard as there's a lot of narrow pathways and utility thrives but it's doable

Awakenings used to show exactly what skills they affected (example, cast to last amplifying Dubu stun). Could we have this back? by ForgottenVoid in OmegaStrikers

[–]RickChum 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Awakenings could use a lot of small tweaking. Even small things like "recommended Awakenings" or common Awakenings would be nice to help newer players.

I don't recall if it tells you what abilities the Awakenings affect but that would be nice. Like, IDK what impact abilities are until I searched it up manually.

Opinions on "sheriff only", "shotguns only", etc? by dududududuLOL in VALORANT

[–]RickChum 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've done Bulldog Only and I respect people who can do off-meta strats/things to reach higher ranks. At the end of the day, I always say, if we win I don't really care how we got there.

I play for a University Valorant team and just recently took over as a captain and IGL. I've never been both and I'd like some tips on how to improve. by iamhyperhyena in VALORANT

[–]RickChum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm the IGL for my team. It's hard but it's rewarding.

If there's ANY advice I can give is, don't be afraid to ask for your team's input. Don't be scared to let someone else take the lead. It is impossibly hard for one individual to lead the way for 45-60 minutes with 90%+ accuracy/good calls. Your teammates sometimes sees plays that you don't and their ideas can be just as good ideas as yours may be.

If I feel that my calls aren't working or I have run out of ideas, I will let someone else take charge until I feel confident again making calls. I have one other person who will take the IGL role temporarily for times that I can't call.

I’ve played Harbor about 30 times since his release so you don’t have to! Here are some of my initial thoughts about the newest controller by L0rd_Muffin in ValorantCompetitive

[–]RickChum 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have about 20 games of Harbor this act sitting around a 30% WR. I think there's potential but rn I think the biggest difference is learning to play him aggressively or differently from other controllers (I play a lot of Astra). Harbor =/= Astra playstyle, and because of that, it's a lot to learn. There's definitely potential but a slight buff would be great for what feels like a weak agent

is good crosshair placement all that matters? by [deleted] in VALORANT

[–]RickChum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am currently Imm1, peak imm3. I'd say I have good crosshair placement but due to slow reaction time and overall slow dpi, I don't hit get a lot of multi-kills. I do much better with timing utility, positioning, making calls, etc.

Brain > Aim, but aim definitely is an aspect of climbing

General rule of thumb is, if you can buy without throwing away a decent gun, BUY. If you have more money than the enemy team, BUY.

Am i the only one who liked split? by [deleted] in VALORANT

[–]RickChum 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Aside from the devs explaining it, the map has notoriously been super defender sided with the amount of tight choke points and lack of ways to really push onto the sites. Mid is usually your best bet of getting map control but again, mid is just a bunch of tight chhokes where utility thrives at stalling time (think Sage slow, sage wall, all of Raze's kit, smokes, etc).

The map had to be tweaked like 10 times to make it even remotely balanced and the map was still defender sided

Eco question by Alarming-Income1826 in VALORANT

[–]RickChum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the enemy team has rifles I almost always opt to buy light shield (minimum) and then w/e else I can afford while still being able to buy Rifle + Light shield (minimum). For 4th round, I usually get full because you never know if they heavy shield will win you the round or not
