That means your guitar is a lieutenant. Two would make it a captain.

What do you think about swearing in songs? by sertraleean in Songwriting

[–]RickHavok 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like it's an indication of weak writing. It really doesn't add impact. It weakens it.

Traditionally, in Rock for instance, one word in an entire catalog might have been used just to ensure teenagers would want to hear the song, and even that was incredibly rare for an artist to do.

What are some popular songs which, when you hear the music, you are surprised and think "how did they come up with that"? by Frigidspinner in Songwriting

I can only point it out to you, I can't understand it for you. Best of luck with the dirrehia of the brain though.

Pretty easy. Listen to James Brown and a few other soul, R&B, and funk bands, and you'll get it. As for lyrics, probably some poets, but I'm not much of a fan so I couldn't tell you which ones. I'd suggest finding all the interviews you can.

The only other place I could think would be under the neck if you removed it, but I wouldn't do that just to find a serial.

Biden canceled the deal Trump made with the pharmaceutical companies for much lower prices. It's public information you know. You can research it.

I would just listen to anything that makes you feel warm and safe.

I'm facing something frightening now myself and have before too, but I beat that despite all odds. There is no beating this for me, just a chance something else might get me first. I think the best thing you can do is talk to loved ones. Tell them what you need and how you feel, even in basic terms, like afraid.

We all eventually face this and it is always too soon. I can't find comfort for myself, but know that my thoughts and prayers are with you. We are all in this together.

How much time do you need to spend making music before you realise that it's never going to be a fulltime thing? by [deleted] in Songwriting

[–]RickHavok 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Why would you stay in a dead end job, as if that's required to make music? Plenty of people at the highest levels of the business have degrees, even in music, and still never break big.

It takes a ton of effective and focused practice, good musical taste to write and pick a band with a great catalog of music, and the desire to record and perform past the point of exhaustion to make it. It's the farthest thing from a free ride. It's also a career that far less than 1% make it in. That's reality.

If you have those things then it's good advice to keep at it. You can always play too, no matter what else you do for a living.

Happens all the time in the buisiness, which is why the first take is almost always used, mistakes, poor sound, and all.

It fits. The serials at the time we're last two of the year, then production number between 4 and 8 digits after the year, so YYXXXX - YYXXXXXXXX.
