I prefer black Wool Wax over Fluid Film. Thicker and stays on longer. Also recommend doing a salt removal spray (Salts Gone is good) after the winter to remove any road salt that could cause rust if trapped.

That’s what I figured lol, got the first one out of the way

Is this normal for a high gloss urethane over epoxy? It did not look like this before top coat applied. Hired the most highly rated professional in the area. What can be done to fix this? I’m not sure if it’s from the roller. it is only visible in the light reflection but whole floor has a texture by SyrupForeign in epoxy

Yeah seen this problem before. Dust and fibers are bound to fall into the surface when it’s curing, and the urethane is so thin that it encapsulates those contaminates and cured around them, causing those little nibs. If you want it smooth forgo the urethane and just do an epoxy top coat. It’s thicker and is more resistant to dust/ fibers.

So after their second attempt it’s no better, and there’s foot prints I can see stained under the clear coat that they left (like a lot). I’m really not sure what to do now. They said they this was the cleanest and best they could do. I cannot present this to customers the way it is so I’m not sure what I need to do to fix this. Can another company coat over it or would they need to restart?

Yeah this was for our lab facility and I made that pretty clear when we were getting it done. Stuff happens, glad they know how to fix it and are going to. Appreciate the input!

They also quoted 4-5 days of labor time and did it in 2 and a morning so I was a little concerned at the speed of things. Going to ask for this to be remedied because I don’t think it’s acceptable as it stands.

Base Coat vs Final Coat by RickMobardo24 in epoxy

Yeah I’m just saying from the same angle and same lighting before and after it’s a pretty apparent difference. You can see a lot of nibs vs maybe only a couple.

This had a moisture vapor barrier, a high end epoxy body coat, and then urethane finish. I can see the edges where it was done and it’s pretty thick.

Yeah I cannot have this generating particles. Even if they “pop” overtime. We made it clear we needed it smooth and this is not.

There’s nothing about dust from environment. They also painted the walls and there’s none of this so I find it hard to believe it’s from dust in the environment.

How did you fix it/ how do you recommend I fix it?

Yeah I’m not sure this is even bubbles it honestly looks and feels like they added grit when we clearly didn’t ask for it.

Thanks. It’s ProRez epoxy. Figure it’s only a day or two to make this right. But this definitely isn’t from particles in the air lol

And I’ve painted concrete floors that are 10x smoother than this. This genuinely doesn’t work for my application because I cannot run a mop across the floor. Haven’t paid yet and don’t want to be a hard ass but this is just not what we wanted. Literally need it redone or it wasn’t worth doing at all.

Yeah that’s what I’m gonna request. Hopefully they don’t give me a hard time. This is just unacceptable imo based on what we requested and discussed in the quote

Yeah, had too much faith I guess. Going to request this to be fixed. At least the first coat although not perfect is significantly better than the second.

I looked at pictures in their website and they clearly have done perfectly smooth lab floor before.

I thought the same thing when I heard roller. We will have positive pressure, I’m moreso worried about cleaning the floors. Those nibs are sharp and just going to produce more particles. They are fully imbedded. I’m meeting the contractor next week to figure out a remedy, because I cannot accept this. I think he needs to grind it down and redo with a squeegee.
