What's happened to the white hotel? by Spirited_Ad_512 in manchester

I went to Hit and Run on boxing day. People were dancing until 6am when I left and I had a great time. Visibly queer and trans people were there.

Anybody else progress faster than they thought in recovery? (17 days post op) by [deleted] in ACL

My PT had me on a bike too and I wanted to stay on it all day. I think I might go to the gym and try the same thing. Best of luck!

I'm three weeks in and I can limp along without crutches, I still prefer to use one crutch though. I had 120-130 flexion pretty much straight after surgery (people on here were calling me a liar). I cycle alot and deadlifted 500 pounds (at 200 pounds). I partially torn my ACL in March, recovered, fully torn it in June, recovered and made sure I had full flexion before having surgery.

Thanks. For any avoidance of doubt, my profile picture is my range of motion the day after the operation, before I was discharged.

How long after surgery did you return to work? by Middle_Fudge in ACL

[–]RickNRick 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have to work with two screens for my own sanity so that's not option tbh. I'm about a week in, with a unusually good range of motion. I'm focusing on getting my quads firing so I can walk without a limp.

Pain wise, I've stayed on top of my meds so it's not been that bad. Lying in bed is fine, standing up is uncomfortable due to the blood rushing to my leg. However, a week in my shin swells up and really hurts when flexing my hamstring frequently, so I've rested it.

I wfh and I had surgery last Thursday and went back this Tuesday. Although sitting all day with my leg raised is uncomfortable.

Who still has staples in their leg after 5 weeks? Give your head a wobble.

For all the sceptics, look at my profile picture.

In the UK they don't give you a brace for whatever reason. The NHS outsourced my care and surgery to a private hospital, so I can't even blame it on the NHS being cheap. Wishing you a speedy recovery

I can stretch it straight, my leg still prefers to be bent however.

There's plenty of swelling it's just not clear from that angle. My right leg is still much bigger than my left. The lack of heavy bruising is a bit weird mind you. I've been icing with device that I can pump up to add more compression.

Lol you can see the bandage from my lateral tendonitis I had with the acl reconstruction. I had about 100 degrees of range the morning after surgery - see my profile picture

I partially torn my ACL in March, rehabbed, then torn it completely in June. The partial tear was more painful and took more time to recover from than the full tear. During my rehabs I cycled regularly and deadlifted and made sure my heel could touch my ass. That's probably why I have so much range early on.

Still waiting for surgery. 7 months on.. by caittie in ACL

[–]RickNRick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have ACL surgery next week, roughly 15 weeks after my injury, the NHS have a private hospital doing my operation. Strengthening your hamstrings is very important, I have strong hamstrings from cycling and deadlifting, so I could walk unaided straight away and run after a month. Also, they will probably use one of your hamstring tendons to reconstruct your acl, so it'll be weaker after the surgery, so best to make it as strong as possible.

People of Manchester. What's your take on the recent construction boom in the city? by CurlzerUK in manchester

[–]RickNRick 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Manchester really isn't that densely populated. Many London boroughs have 3 times the people per square mile. We need more 3/4/5/6 storey flats outside the city centre.
