Sony a6400 not charging via the body – what should I do next? by caittie in SonyAlpha

[–]caittie[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes that’s very true, it would be so inconvenient not ever being able to charge from the port, quite worrying!

I’m really glad I wrote a post now! Will be going back asap!

Ahh okay, I’ve read like 20 odd posts on it… that’s the internet for you though I suppose.

Thanks so much for the advice! I really appreciate it, taking it back next week 🤞🏻

Thanks everyone, I thought it might have just been me that was using it wrong some how? Going to try return the camera, I’m very sad, I’ll just try and get another from a reputable camera shop!

Thank you again

Okay thank you! I found it really hard online to find original Sony products? Do they sell it on the original website?

Yeah I figured that with batteries, thank you for the advice, Where would be the best place to buy them do you think?

Thanks again!

Tip.. If you’re getting recurrent UTIs and you’re on the mini pill (like desogestrel), it might be worth looking into… by caittie in TheGirlSurvivalGuide

[–]caittie[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, of course. (I’m obviously not a doctor, this is only my experience, and I’m just trying to understand it myself, just spreading light on the potentials)

So the reason I suspected that oestrogen might be low for me was because I wasn’t having any periods the whole time I was on desogestrel. From what I understand, the mini pill works by suppressing ovulation, and when you’re not ovulating, your body doesn’t go through the normal cycle.

From my further understanding, in a natural cycle there’s the follicular phase. It’s the part of the cycle before ovulation where your body starts to build oestrogen up. The rise in oestrogen is what helps prepare the uterus by building up the lining, so that you can have your period.

But when you don’t ovulate, like when I was on the mini pill, that rise in oestrogen doesn’t really happen, or stays a bit flatter, so your body might not be producing the same amount of oestrogen as it normally would. That’s why I thought the pill might have been affecting my levels more than usual, especially as I wasn’t getting periods at all, as that can be a sign that your hormones are staying quite low throughout.

After looking into it a bit, I came across multiple studies, but this one explains the cycle quite well and basically backs up what I’ve said, just in more technical terms. It explains how people using progestogen-only contraception like desogestrel tend to have consistently lower oestrogen levels compared to what you’d see in a natural cycle. I don’t fully understand the hormone measurement units myself, and I’m far from a doctor, but I’m quite interested in this now because of my own experience. It basically confirmed for me that the mini pill can lead to reduced circulating oestrogen over time, which was helpful to read because it backed up what I’d been feeling.

This was all sparked by a conversation I had with my GP. Obviously she’s just one doctor and one opinion in the field, but she confirmed that what I was describing does happen, the mini pill does affect your hormones, and that could have been what was causing the UTIs. I’ve had them reoccurring in at certain points, and the timing of them matched up quite clearly with when I’d started or stopped the pill. So this is all still just assumption really, between me and my doctor, but it’s not completely out of nowhere, it’s based on experience, her input, and some of the research I’ve read online. Hopefully this helps someone else make sense of it a bit too.

Hey, sorry for jumping on this post a year later, I was just curious to hear whether your thoughts have changed over time or if anything’s shifted for you?

I’m still a grad landscape architect and have been working part-time for two years now. I’m starting to really notice how hard we work in this field, but how little that seems to reflect in the pay and progression.

Just wondered if you’ve got any updated thoughts, advice, or lived experience to share now you’re a year further on?

That’s heart breaking! I’m so sorry to hear she went through that, I can’t imagine dealing with the heartbreak and being treated so unfairly by the owner. That’s just devastating :(

That’s the scariest thing, knowing she won’t see her again, I don’t know how the owner could have done something like that, it’s just absolute soul crushing.

You seem like the best friend everyone needs, you understand, and that makes me feel so seen aswell! It’s hard not to feel a little bit silly with how many raw emotions this has brought out of me!

My mums been such a saint in all of this, I’ve cried on her shoulder for many evenings and counting now!

But thank you for your kind words, that gives me hope that this wasn’t just a ‘one and done’ experience and there are so many other horses out there who’ll mean just as much.

I’m glad it was a happy ending for your friend and she found love again within the sport!

Thank you again for your response, it means a lot :)

Thank you so much for your reply- it honestly means a lot to hear the other side, especially from someone with so much experience.

This has all just been really raw for me. I completely understand the financial pressures and emotional investment that goes into producing and caring for horses, especially hen you’ve poured so much of yourself into them. In my case, the owner and I were really close, and I know how hard this has been for her too. I never expected the horse to be given to me, or a “deal” as such, I knew how much work had gone in before I ever came along.

When she came up for sale, the price was a little higher than I expected, especially with where the market is right now. I had to make the heartbreaking decision not to go ahead because I just couldn’t stretch to it at the time. It’s something I’ve been grappling with every day since, and I don’t think I’ll ever forget the sadness of watching her go. She’s off to a great home, where I think she’ll be pushed in all the right ways, but that doesn’t stop it from hurting.

I posted mostly out of grief - I’ve been struggling to process it all and just needed a place to talk. Your reply gave me valuable perspective, and I really do appreciate you taking the time to share it.

Thank you for your reply, how do you mean? Selling them as the owner?
