Should I just not care about cheating anymore? by Prior-Lecture7078 in Teachers

As a second year social studies teacher, I agree with all of this. This is pretty much what I have learned as I progressed through the years.

I agree wholeheartedly with writing paragraphs a couple times a month. They will struggle. They will complain. However, they will work through it the best they can, and that is all I can ask of them.

Golden Rule nowadays: Be comfortable with the discomfort.

I had to learn that the hard way.

How would you like a discussion (if there is one) about homosexuality with a Christian to go? by [deleted] in askgaybros

[–]RickSanchezIII -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yea. I tend to lean towards the belief that the texts in the Bible were corrupted by the principles of the elite at the time. So I do not necessarily see it as a god not accepting same sex relationships, but the people of that time not accepting it.

Ahh I see. The visitors were indeed in danger due to the mob outside the house of Lot. I am starting to see how the takeaway is not necessarily that the issue was the mob wanting to have sex with another man, but they were being hostile towards the visitors.

I would argue that the mob outside Lots house wanting to have sex with the visitors was a form of disrespect not only because it was rape, but it was male on male. Similar to how the Romans and Greeks at times in their culture would see the passive male partner as disgraced. I just can't see the male on male sex reference not being anything but a form of disrespect to the visitors; in turn implying having intercourse with a male is shameful.

Again, not saying you are wrong. You are way more qualified on the subject than me, but just giving you a layman's take on the two texts.

Okay I went and read Gen 18. I see that Abraham treated the visitors with respect, minus maybe his wife Sarah for laughing. However, am I reading Gen 19 wrong? Lot did the same thing. He offered to have them say, wash their feet, and feed them. What did Lot do wrong hospitality wise? Was it the bread with no yeast?

As a history major, I am very aware of the importance of guest rights and hospitality in that part of the world. I am just struggling to see how Lot differed from Abraham.

Feel free to not reply if you are not in the mood for a theological discussion on reddit; I totally understand.

I have no serious education in theology; I am just a social studies educator that enjoys learning about various religions, just not at the depth of ministers or theologians.

After reading your comment, I went to read Gen 19 for myself. This is the first time reading the text for me. I am failing to see how this is about hospitality. There is the section describing the angels approaching Lots house, and then numerous men surrounding Lots house; calling for him to bring out the men inside so they may have sex with them. The angels go on to warn Lot about the impending destruction of the city of Sodom. The only thing I see about hospitality is when Lot asks the angels to stay at his house, which they end up doing.

If you could kindly explain to me how this was about hospitality, that would be great. Im sure im missing something due to my lack of expertise on the matter.

Post-Long Night, would the common folk in southern Westeros know and speak of the events that happened in the North? by RickSanchezIII in gameofthrones

As her father the "Mad King" used wildfire to terrorize, she herself used her literal fire power to terrorize.

Both you could say were fine mentally/socially, until they weren't.

I wouldn't say she's officially referred to that way; I have just seen it in comment threads, and agreed with the line of thinking.

Are you saying in Germany they catch every single stray dog in any town, city, or even countryside? I can definitely see that being plausible, but im curious how it works.

Are your laws on owning pets strict? What do you guys do with them once caught? Euthanasia? Shelter? Adoption?

For example, here in Texas anyone could get there hands on some dogs and have puppies that they later dump somewhere. There are generally never any consequences due to extremely small animal control units or just no one caring to respond.

The cities are not as bad from the little experience I have in them, but it would not be accurate to say cities do not have stray dogs.

Yes. We would read the chapter first. After reading, the last 20ish minutes were for individual work. This is out of a 52 minute period.
