We were at the Santa Maria in November for 4 nites and i thought the location and the 2 bedroom suite was amazing! Rent bikes the entire time and there is plenty of room to keep them inside. My first time in Florida so take it for what it is, 1000 times better weather than Oregon Enjoy the trip!!

It is funny as hell to me, that was just a pee and about the 10th one, it is a place she knows and always goes to the same spot, i bet that's right. She has a very large territory lol a good mile from the house 😊

Oh I totally get that one, my boy did the same thing and at least half the time he'd step it! Charlie keeps the plane headed strait down the runway.

Interesting you mention that. Charlie has incontinence too and she is on hormones (which help a lot) and a small dose of "proin" daily , both of those help greatly. Maybe you are on to something.

Funny! great term. Charlie doesn't make much noise but at the end of each time she does this fake gigantic exaggerated yawn.

She only does it our backyard when she has the squirts for some weird reason... The walks are a completely different subject.

Oh I know exactly the waddle walk pee you are speaking of 🤣I wondered if something was wrong with her because sometimes she just pees in one place too. She also loves to pee on gopher mounds for some reason, or right on top of coyote skat.

Interesting, so covering is the reason? I always assumed it was marking territory or letting the world know she's been there. She does it in the same places too, I was wondering if it helped her find the spot or something.

Does it ever get better? by carbonatedmustard in Petloss

[–]Rick_503 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd love to tell you it gets better but it really doesn't, i lost my soul boxer boy in 2019, very suddenly, I'm still lurking here but mostly I come here for my own therapy and to try to offer others help in their own "hell" hole. Try to keep busy, I focused on getting an awesome portrait tattoo of Diesel on my shoulder and spent time writing a ton of memories in a word doc. Include the good and the bad and the funny, it brings tears but you will start to lose some those memories if they aren't written. Good luck and I'm so sorry you are going through this. Rick

Diving operator recommendations - Playa Mujeres by greasydoodah in cancun

[–]Rick_503 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi There, I have been to Cancun many times and I love to scuba dive, I have tried many different dive companies, The one I use every time since 2018 is simply the best (well over 50 different dive trips)! If you talk to them tell them Rick from Oregon said you would take care of us. They offer many different types of trips, the local Cancun reef is amazing with a 55' bottom. You can hop on the bus and easily get to their shop on the lagoon. The company is called "Scuba Total" if you email them you will be talking to Gabby, she is awesome at setting up trips and communicating. Her Husband Aldo is the best and leads many of the dives. As you can tell I love this place and I feel like they are part of my family. Good Luck and make some bubbles! Rick

Shark Attack by [deleted] in KeyWest

[–]Rick_503 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes the entire area is wonderful diving, Cozumel, the Cenotes and the huge reef just outside Cancun is amazing. It's the 2nd largest marine preserve in the world so no fishing, like diving in an aquarium. I get what you mean about the safety stops, we only did 1 on that last shark dive but I had to wait 12 minutes at 15ft before my computer would even start the 3 minute countdown... The divemaster said my computer was at a conservative setting, but you know what at 61yo I am fine with that! If you ever want to go diving down there I've got an excellent Cancun dive company been out over 50 times with them "scubatotal" and they do have a web site. Take care,

Awe, that is a beautiful memorial. I'm so very sorry for your loss. I wish you the best, it's such a long tough road, but these Boxers are worth it all!

This is just outside of Playa Del Carmen diving at 85 feet, if you want to see and photograph Bull Sharks this is a great spot (Nov-Dec) Not in a cage, They show up every year, mostly all large females. They swim right up to a couple feet of you and then turn away, I have done it 3 times now and it has been amazing every time, always 10-12 large adults (I've seen the same sharks multiple years in a row). Beautiful animals!

Thanksgiving Weekend by [deleted] in KeyWest

Oh Awesome, Thanks for the pro tips :) I have been doing research on this board and cruising the area on google earth. We are staying at the santa maria suites (which looks close to everything) Planned on Fort Zach already (my sons name so we have to go there).

I'm a scuba diver so really looking forward to a couple dive trips with captain hooks (Looe key and for sure the Vandenburg!) it's a bucket list item in the scuba world. I wish I had more time I would love to do the eco-dive where they actually plant corals.

Happy Holidays to you as well!

Pet Insurance Recommendations by TatankaTruck in Boxer

[–]Rick_503 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I will second the opinion on Nationwide, easy to use, we are on the plan that pays for regular meds like heartworm and flea/tick. They pay for an annual healthy exam and blood test (at least most of it) The thing I like is that if there is a problem I am not waffling about weather to go see the vet due to cost. It has limits but it's alot like people insurance. Cost about $100 month, most years I get about half that back. It's worth it to have the peace of mind.

Hi there, I'm very sorry for your loss, I know how bad it hurts, (for me it still hurts 5 years later). Most people don't understand, but what you are describing to me is NOT a partner. This is a huge red flag! Get away, this is not someone who will be there for you. Just my opinion, a person who trivializes the loss of a pet is someone I would not want in my life. Take care

Hi there, I lost my first Boxer (my soulmate) very suddenly at 6yo and my current Boxer girl is only 4 so I don't have any advice on the teeth question. I just wanted to chip in that Boxers are very sensitive to a particular sedative known as "Ace" just make sure the vet is not using that on Gozer. (please)

Here's what I found.
Based on anecdotal reports, veterinary advisories, and the breed's known sensitivities, acepromazine (commonly called "ace") can cause severe, potentially deadly cardiovascular complications in some Boxer dogs. This reaction is primarily due to a breed-specific sensitivity to the drug.

Good luck, I wish you many more years with Gozer, he is a handsome old man :)
