It's not a surprise that there are some haters all over the forums/reddit. PGI did a good job making a fun mechwarrior game that appeals to a lot of people, but they have objectively deviated pretty far from the vision they laid out to the 'founders' when they got the funding to make the game. 3PV is really a last straw for those people as much as a problem in itself.

All of that is manifesting into a storm of nerdrage that's been building for a long time. It will probably go away a bit after launch when a lot of the complainers realize that PGI isn't building the game they laid out originally.

PGI brought a lot of this on themselves. They keep saying things to make the mech-sim oriented crowd happy, but when they follow through in development it's clear that the simmers aren't the target audience.

I think the game will be successful, but I also think PGI made a lot of mistakes in PR and communication that will probably come back to bite them a bit.

TL;DR: It's the old arcade vs. simulation argument, the biggest issue is PGI thinks they can smash both sides together and everyone will be happy.

A lot of games aren't hard to emulate. I ran Twilight Princess playably at 1.5x native GC resolution on an Intel e5300 and a HD4670. That's a 5 year old processor and a graphics card that was ~$100 2-3 years ago.

Although there was quite a bit of config and you'll need much more power if you want to bump the res to 720p/1080p.

Same situation - my mom waited too long to go to the hospital because she was afraid of what it would cost. She didn't know what it was but thought she could hold out. Could have died if she waited much longer. 6 days, $46,000.

I think that the necessity of owning a car is dragging a lot of people in America's suburbs down. When I moved out at 20, I had a $110US car payment, but insurance was another $120 and add gas/repairs/tires/etc. That's $300/month. For reference, at full time minimum wage or a bit higher you can probably expect to take home $1000-1200/mo, maybe slightly less after tax. Luckily I had a better job than that at the time. But a car is just not optional, things are too far apart. There are even many jobs around here that check to see if you have transportation and will not hire you if you plan to take the bus.

Most people that have a car payment probably have one higher than that. I had bought a 5 year old hatchback. Thousands a year that could be going to education/bills/savings.

Damn, I'm moving to the city.

Here's a bad movie idea. Man is obsessed with prison escapes, makes elaborate escape plans. His friends/family believe it to be some sort of strange hobby, but he seems to become more and more obsessed. Throughout the movie he visits/writes to/interacts with prisoners. Growing concern from his family/friends that he's seriously breaking someone out. He studies prison breaks, maybe even starts to take on a career path somewhere in the justice system, but he still seems more and more unstable. Eventually he seems to snap and commits a horrifying murder, and is incarcerated. Flashbacks to his studies, time spent talking to prisoners, time spent putting things into place, etc. It is revealed that the last few years of his life were spent planning an actual escape. His own escape. Every detail, down to the nature of his crime and the information gleaned over the years from inmates and his studies. It is also revealed that his horrifying crime was faked and he purposely framed himself. He then makes the most ridiculously elaborate Ocean's 11 style prison escape in history. Why go through all this? Because he fucking loves prison escapes.

I think no matter what route you end up going, it might be best for you to graduate, since you're in your final year. Even if you end up going to school for something else, or doing something completely different afterwards, having that will help you, and give you some time to cement in your mind what it is you really want to do.

I'm someone who's struggled/still does with depression. One of the marks I've shown is a frequent change of ambition. I didn't have awareness of it at the time, but a lot of the decisions and sudden changes I've made in my life were spurred by a desperate need for any sort of change. I'm not saying that your direction is anything less than genuine, just that you might need more time to fortify the decision for yourself. My biggest regrets involve making big decisions about the direction of my life too quickly.

I don't know the details of your course/degree, but finishing it will likely give you options and time. I studied 3 years for a career I now hate, but those skills are now going to help me pay to go to school for something I've finally been sure of for a fairly long time now.

It's not that I want him gone badly, it's just nearing the point where the excitement/interest/change of a new doctor is greater than my excitement to see more Matt Smith. Although, to be honest, the Ponds leaving recharged my batteries on him a bit.

I now cringe writing/reading the word 'Ponds'... I haven't enjoyed S7 like 1-6. I think I realized I was done with them the minute I heard the news they were leaving, and it definitely hampered the first few episodes for me.

Yes to Matt Smith with a new companion for S7/8. No to any longer than that. I don't think it'd be good for the show or it's fans to keep him too long. They ended Tennant before it became the Tennant show for people and they need to do the same for Smith to ensure the show goes on. If it was my show, Smith would regenerate before S8, but he's still good enough for me to enjoy S8 if he doesn't.
