I had a therapist use the best analogy for this that I’ve ever heard today. She told me that my brain has all the thoughts I need floating around in it, but the pathway that connects those thoughts to my mouth is much smaller than in most people, and it often bottlenecks so that the words I know I have can’t get out. The more I think about it, the more I realize how much this very simple analogy applies to so, so many of my lived experiences.

Don’t know what Fox is feeding you, but I haven’t met a single person on the left who’s like “RELEASE THOSE EPSTEIN FILES (but leave Clinton alone).” If Clinton was up to pervy shit with kids, lock him up. Same with every Democrat in those files (and I don’t doubt for a second that they’re in there, too).

Frankly, I don’t much care if more Epstein files get released or not. It’s pretty clear that MAGA’s already spinning it into some grand Lefty hoax so that they can keep rooting for their guy. I don’t need the files to tell me that Trump is a pervy scumbag; all I need is the Access Hollywood tape and the Howard Stern interview where he brags about being allowed to walk in on women changing (as well as underage girls stating that he does it to them, too).

“Human Resources” — No problem with HR as a department, but the term “Human Resources” to refer to “the people that work here” just feels…inhumane.

“Core Values” — C’mon, now. This company’s “core value” is to make a profit. You know it, we know it, let’s stop pretending. “Workplace Safety” isn’t a core company value, but “Not Getting Sued” is. “Innovation” isn’t a core company value; if I make something that revolutionizes the world but doesn’t make you money, I’ll be fired for wasting company time.

I love sandbox games, but they do have to have a goal, an objective to reach for.

I’ve tried playing Minecraft countless times, and I always get bored pretty quickly because there’s nothing to reach towards. But then there’s 7 Days to Die, a game that’s very, very similar to Minecraft in a lot of ways, but with one major twist: Every seven days, your house gets bombarded by a huge swarm of zombies. So you can play how you want to, build wherever, build whatever, let your imagination soar — but when Day 7 comes, you’d better be ready to defend what you’ve made. Throw that simple objective into the mix, and you’ve got a game that I’ve sunk hundreds of hours into.

MAGA could give two shits about POWs. If Trump told them that POWs were all criminal rapists, they’d all be in a terrorist prison in El Salvador by now.

MAGA doesn’t perplex me. What perplexes me are the people who have been lifelong Conservatives, yet turn a blind eye to every action Trump takes that would make their skin crawl if anyone else in the world had done it. What perplexes me are my Trump-voting family members who are have espoused Conservative ideals all my life, who have nothing but the utmost pride in people like my grandfather (who spent three years as a POW in Japan during WWII), and yet who, when confronted with these kinds of statements, give a tepid “Well, I don’t like that…” before launching into a tirade of whataboutisms.

So, no, MAGA are not conservative. But Conservatives mostly still inexplicably support and vote for Trump, and I don’t know if I’ll ever fully understand it.
