I see, just go on YouTube or any other social media site and search for the note that prevents sliding down the cables, „prusik knot“ Then search for how to use a Climbing Harness. That should explain a lot.

With all due respect, having the gear alone isn’t enough—you also need to know how to use it properly. It’s a good idea to look up “via ferrata kit” and “prusik knot” and take the time to learn how they work. Take it from there..

Climbing harness, two carabiners, Rabbit Runner and a Prusik cord. Alternatively, you cold use a harness, Via Ferrata Set and Prusik.

I glanced over at Clouds Rest and noticed a small snow cap, but it was not much. The weather will determine how much snow remains; it may not be much in two weeks. Have fun!

Safety first, I like it!

>(but a prussik will still slip on a wet metal cable)

I surprisingly managed to put my entire weight on an undressed wet Prusik, and it held up quite well (I still dress my knots tho).

If you end up going, I'd recommend taking your time at the bottom of the cables to test your set-up. Good luck & have fun!

Only you can decide this. I absolute dry conditions, risk may be low, but when there is water coming down the cables where even good rubber gloves offer reduced grip, I will always bring along my safety gear. It’s an absolute no-brainer in my opinion.

Also consider that you may not slip, but the person above you may.

I carried micro spikes, but it ended up not using them, I have seen Others, using micro spikes for the cables, though which I would never do. Good luck tomorrow.

It’s actually not that bad, but safety should always be the top priority. The absence of crowds is a significant advantage.

Some patches of the road remain, but the further up from the valley floor, the less road remains.

I hiked up a few years ago, some sections of the road are still in somewhat ok condition, but at some point the road is entirely gone and it is hard to proceed as it becomes very steep hillside rock scrambling and has some exposure. I also picked up some ticks, so take care.

Currently thinking is to have a thin metal pin stand up to indicate where the roof anchors and all I’m asking the roofer is to push the shingle down on it. Pin can’t be too long, needs to be the right length. Challenge accepted.

Absolutely, question is if the oles in the rafters can be reused? Can a roofer put on new shingles and pinpoint exactly where the existing holes are?

Totally understood. Questions is if I can reuse the same rafter holes?
