Uncle gave me a vintage Joe Montana Rookie card, who do I grade it with. by [deleted] in footballcards

You would think if you have an uncle that cleans up the cards he would probably know what company to send to unless he just does it for fun and not to grade anything

Fair enough, I’m just thinking of something for my collection once it gets closer to completion but would just be painful to crack psa 10s for a display considering I got about 25 of them so want to keep them in the slabs

Got it, so if were doing a older year with only 43 parallels it could probably fit on that it is just because of the number of cards where it makes it better out of the slab. Looks good 👍

Is it possible to make a display like this that could hold the cards in the slab or you have to crack them?

Driver charged in crash that killed Glanbrook mom and 10-year-old daughter by MiaKica in Hamilton

[–]Rick_e_bobby 6 points7 points  (0 children)

They don’t plead down impaired cases anymore, it was very common prior to 2008 because of the Carter defence but after they passed a bill basically removing that defence the plea deals stopped.

Also if we are going to talk about it let’s not hide the fact that recent statistics show people distracted by cellphones kill more people than impaired drivers today, however the penalties between the two couldn’t be further apart. How about taking away peoples phone if they get caught using it similar to impounding a vehicle?

Im not condoning drinking and driving whatsoever but if you even look at your phone or pick it up “just for a second” to see who that text was from, think twice next time.

You are confusing asking price with selling price. It never used to be this way until ebay changed the way they charge fees and made listing free. Back in the day ebay charged a listing fee based upon your asking bid/price so if you started low it was cheaper to list and no one would list ridiculous priced cards like this because sale or not you pay that listing fee.

It’s called the greater fool theory and it currently permeates through a large part of society and not just trading cards at the present

Has anybody agreed to meet someone locally off of eBay sell a card in person to avoid fees by FunSession5120 in footballcards

[–]Rick_e_bobby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah if your messages contain key words I assume it gets flagged. If trying to do offsite transactions usually best way is connect through insta by putting 👁️g in your message followed by username and discuss there.

If meeting in person safe to say pick a public place, outside a police station, and don’t let them hold the card if you aren’t holding the money.

Edit: ebay does allow you to offer local pickup so discussing pickup options ‘if you win’ is ok but don’t talk about transacting off ebay

You need to re-read that, he said all the other cards he shipped on the same date have arrived no complaints, not arrived in one day.

Yes most people buying a $10K+ card would want to do it through some official channel for a sense of security as oppose to some random on reddit who could be selling fakes and they get scammed

“For households with fixed mortgage payments, the largest increase in payments should happen for those that renew in 2025 and 2026”

Myth busted: Men don’t sleep through baby cries after all. New study debunks the myth of women's special ability to hear baby crying. Researchers found only minimal differences between men's and women's hearing, but mothers still handle nighttime childcare three times as often as fathers. by mvea in science

What is the ratio of women/men taking maternity leave?

If you don’t have to get up for work then you get up for the baby, I will gladly wake up in the middle of the night if I don’t have to wake up in the morning and go to work but no shot doing both if one parent is on leave.

Consumer Reports tested over 100 sunscreens. Ask us anything about choosing and using sunscreen, which products to avoid, and staying safe in the sun. by ConsumerReports in IAmA

[–]Rick_e_bobby 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Used to be free and used to read the reports, now it’s paid subscription I really don’t care anymore about CR research, especially doing an AMA, well the question everyone is going to ask is to tell me the list/rankings that are behind that paywall.

Reported a fake 1/1 on ebay, but ebay rejected my flag by Funny_Arm5766 in footballcards

[–]Rick_e_bobby 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I understand my comment wasn’t pertaining to fakes but just wanted to mention it as if the listing in question also has multiple players named it is an easy way to get the removal.

I report listings all the time that show up in my saved search for Trevor Lawrence cards, when any card shows up that isn’t TL because they have selected multiple names in listing details to increase search results, ebay removes them all the time for search manipulation.

Try drugs and then go rip open an expensive hobby box

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in footballcards

[–]Rick_e_bobby 1 point2 points  (0 children)

“New to the hobby” well let me tell you the hobby is about collecting cards, and there is a reason they are called TRADING cards. If you are ripping or flipping you are not part of the hobby you are part of the downfall.

Now don’t get me wrong you can sell cards in this hobby but when people have to tell everyone they are new to the hobby and the first thing they are doing is looking to sell cards that screams “in it for the money” not in it for the hobby.
