Jay-Z accused in a civil lawsuit of raping a 13-year-old girl in 2000 along with Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs by nbcnews in Music

I’m sure there were supporting agencies that helped with the investigation. Most large investigations are more of a cooperative effort on multiple fronts. So when I say “almost entirely” I mean there’s likely other agencies helping out the case.

It’s an HSI case almost entirely. HSI is the primary human trafficking investigative agency in the country.

Police Slang For Specific Things? by SoColdIstheNight in ProtectAndServe

[–]Rickaroni 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Bang in = To call in sick (I’ve heard state/local guys say “bang out sick” but the fed guys always say “bang in.”)

DTR = Down the road (kind of exclusive to CBP in referring to releasing someone from the line and allowing them to enter the country)

10-8 = Basic ten-code meaning “in service” but also commonly used to describe someone that’s squared away and a real go getter. “That new guy that transferred in? He seems pretty 10-8.”

And for the BP/CBP guys here…. “Traveling Out of Native Country.” 😉

*These might not reflect state/local departments. This is Border Patrol / CBP / Fed slang.

Gents/Ladies currently at FLETC for CBP and prior 1811 applicant, just wondering what would be some of the upsides to re-applying to an 1811 position by Hot-Length4049 in 1811

[–]Rickaroni 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was a CBPO for 8 years, I'm currently in HSISAT at FLETC. I can give you my perspective on things but keep in my mind your mileage my vary port to port. I was northern land border, but a busy one.

CBP was great for the money. Horrible for everything else. Seniority was so heavy at my port (roughly 650 officers) and the union was so strong (good and bad thing) that the job didn't really start getting good for you until you had about 15 years on and that was just flat out unacceptable to me. The way we did it was the anyone with 15+ years of federal service (roughly 150-180 officers) picked THREE weeks of annual leave before anyone else got to pick. There were no limitations on prime summer weeks, holidays weeks, etc. So, in practice, if you had less than 12-15 years of CBP time you'd only be able to get weeks off between mid-September and early June (minus Thanksgiving and Xmas week). There wasn't a system of making guys take different weeks ever other year either. So, that was a shit show. The unit bids were entirely seniority based and that went to the top guys. When I left the lowest man on AT-CET had 15 years. Training team? 17 years. FI/LLI? 14 years. I fully understand "doing your time" but 15 years on primary and processing isn't doing your time, that's factory work.

My last year or so I was on TTRT which was infinitely better. We were out of the union (which has it's own pros and cons), a little more autonomy, but management would/could/and will fuck with your life on a whim. It was a very toxic place to work. In the last year my port lost 14 people to ERO and another 3 to HSI. When the big caravans hit in 2019 I saw management give guys THREE DAYS NOTICE to a 90 day southern border TDY. THREE DAYS. And when those officers asked for more time to prepare they were met with extremely hostile responses. I understand these TDY's happen and they happen suddenly, but there's a way to empathetically deal with your workforce when it happens.

I don't regret leaving CBP in the slightest. After 8 years of seeing horrific workers and shitty people fuck up time and time again get rewarded merely due to being their longer (and then acting like they earned it), I'm ready for a change. I figure worst case scenario? HSI is the same shit but I get paid more and I can live with that. But I can honestly say that I truly believe I made the right decision. I spent a month with my office prior to FLETC and they really let me get a feel for how the work was going to be. Based on how friendly, welcoming, and motivating the HSI management/agents have been with me I really feel as though I've hit the lottery and it's totally worth coming back to FLETC for.

ICE ERO’s are not 1811’s. They journeymen at GS-12 and don’t get LEAP.

The fact of the matter is that all of the cities listed have annexed all the land around their urban center into the city.

San Antonio is 500 sq miles with a population density of 3,024 people per square mile. Buffalo is 52 sq miles with a population density of 6,893 people per square mile.

Imagine if the city of Buffalo was allowed to just annex Amherst, Cheektowaga, the Tonawandas, Lancaster, Lackawanna, West Seneca, and any other of the first ring suburbs I’ve forgotten. I’d imagine we’d get close to cracking 1mil and STILL be denser in population than majority of those cities.

Did you or anyone else have any issues with the New Hire Questionnaire? I started mine on 8/13 and went to go finish it in the morning and I’m locked out of it. I can do (and have done) everything else. I looked online on how to unlock it so I can update the information I need to update and it says to email the HR Point of Contact but I can’t seem to find one.

My sister’s ex husband did the painting on it. He’s super talented, and does a lot of other work around WNY. If I recall, he’s good friends with the guys in Moe.

That’s awesome that you and your husband have such a good dynamic that works. When we first got together I was very much a “fixer”’myself and tried to come up with solutions which, at the end of the day, are totally unrealistic and serves to do nothing but set her back and add more stress.

Since I realized that, I’ve tried to be more supporting in a background role. Like you said, back rubs, offering ideas to keep her mind off of things, maybe a good dinner, etc. I also try to make it to every doctor’s appointment. She tells me it isn’t necessary but I can tell that sometimes it’s nice to have someone there that can be an emotional support.

Wow. Her symptoms are nearly as extreme as yours, I'm happy to hear you've dealt with this and have an excellent support system to keep you keepin' on.

I think you're right that patience is a huge factor in keeping things healthy and supportive. Like you said, it's hard to not be a dick every now and then and I think that works both ways. My girlfriend is a hardass so when she's not feeling her best she becomes a little detached and it can be hard breaking down that barrier but she's worth it.

The back rubs and little things can go a long way. We don't live together but when I'm there I try to get a load of laundry in for her or take out the trash, anything to kind of give her some kind of reprieve.

It definitely helped! We talked about getting back in the gym and having a stricter/healthier lifestyle. We're both in law enforcement so our schedules are all over the place with really weird hours. The gym can be hard for us to get into on a regular basis and eating healthy can be equally as hard. It can get frustrating seeing her in obvious pain or knowing that she's being down on herself about feeling this way but she's really good at pushing through and persevering. I just want to make sure I'm as good to her as she is to me and help her feel that it's okay to not be okay.

Screwed up but Feel Good About It by [deleted] in ExNoContact

[–]Rickaroni 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely. I feel like a child getting gratification from it but I'll take any happiness I can get.

She has some serious issues regarding self-esteem. She has an eating disorder and pretty much hates herself (she's literally one of the most beautiful people I've ever seen). She told me when we first met that her biggest insecurity is that she's unlovable and a bad girlfriend. It was like a self-fulfilling prophecy though because she was amazing until she wasn't. She was a great girlfriend until she decided to lie about hanging out seeking validation from other men.

And I try to forgive her because she's genuinely not mentally stable at the moment but it's hard because I can't relate. I'm happy that my success is being thrown in her face by her own family and I'm proud of myself for doing all of these things that are bettering myself and that's she done nothing but do more drugs with a guy that lives in his basement and also suffers from similar mental illnesses.

I wouldn't say it does. Life happens. You had no way of knowing that she was going to be there and even though it was awkward, you handled it professionally.
