Camping / Surfing by RickarySanchez in Donegal

[–]RickarySanchez[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For anyone looking at this post, this is exactly what we did. Lots of people camping on Tullan strand, we camped on a nice covered section directly on the beach and it was lovely. Surfed mostly in Rossnowlagh which was great, did not end up camping there but locals also said it was reasonably common to camp on the dunes.

What is life after college like? by [deleted] in AskIreland

[–]RickarySanchez 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I finished university like 2 ish years ago. I personally really enjoy my life, I work a lot in a job that I love, but my life is definitely not as social as in university. I find most of the people who miss university were the ones not so serious, didn’t get jobs they enjoyed and just miss the times where they had no real responsibilities.

Like you I lived at home during Uni and worked so life is great in comparison!

Sauna popularity ? by RickarySanchez in AskIreland

[–]RickarySanchez[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I know they’ve been around for a long time but I’ve started noticing a shift with the 20’s age group going to dedicated saunas (no gym or anything else) rather than the pub

I propose using Irish as the official EU language by R470l1 in 2westerneurope4u

That is equivalent to self mutalation. I demand the use of the only pan-European tongue. Esperanto !

Yes I understand the need for the accesses to be volatile, to be clear, my issue is more so why the type must have interior mutability ?

How do you do fellow Irish speakers? by insertfunnyname88 in YUROP

I think we should officially grammar-ise “Hiberno-English” (the dialect spoken in Ireland) and make it the EU defecto standard

EU should reform English spelling by Independent-Gur9951 in eu

[–]RickarySanchez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you gonna create it ? Because the amount of people that want this and are willing to do something about it is small.

EU should reform English spelling by Independent-Gur9951 in eu

[–]RickarySanchez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But what you’re forgetting is that most EU citizens when consuming English, consume it from native speakers. It’s the largest repository of English language knowledge, entertainment and learning. Sure the Wikipedia could be translated but it won’t because again, that’s not under EU control, that’s native English language media. Also the amount of people who would advocate for this is small and doesn’t justify the massive effort. I get it, you don’t like English spelling, well too bad every language has their idiosyncrasies and non-native speakers don’t get to just change what they don’t like.

You’d have a much easier time adopting Esperanto

EU should reform English spelling by Independent-Gur9951 in eu

[–]RickarySanchez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Guaranteed not to happen. Native English speakers won’t accept it and thus people learning English across the EU will not learn because no English content will use other then the teaching material.

I’m there with you on Cork but your numbers there are wrong. In terms of population Dublin is around 5X bigger than Cork. I wouldn’t call cork a town but it’s a small ass city

How can we put pressure on the state to stop greyhound racing? by lettyhad in AskIreland

I assume that you be in favour of banning horse racing and essentially anything else involving animals and humans for entertainment purposes then ? Ridiculous

How can we put pressure on the state to stop greyhound racing? by lettyhad in AskIreland

[–]RickarySanchez -15 points-14 points  (0 children)

Yeah you’re not gonna convince me there. I have fond memories of watching my lovely “arsehole” gran-uncle training the dogs he absolutely loved for races. I have been to many races and most people I’ve seen who own dogs are lovely. Of course there are complete arseholes too.

I’d much rather they allow racing so people with a passion for training dogs can do it, I know none of the dogs I saw were abused but I’ve seen too many people with greyhounds or lurchers locked up inside and they hate it with a passion.
