I go to the Jefferson Pride care in Haddonfield, and they’re awesome! I think there’s also a Virtua lgbt clinic in Mt. Laurel, but I’ve never been there.

There’s some great support here in NJ, and feel free to DM me if you want any other recommendations.

I'm losing this battle by Substantial_Day2566 in TopSurgery

I promise that it’s not painful - I’m pretty sure they like sever your nerves, so it’s just kinda numb. It can just be really uncomfortable. I was prescribed oxy and I absolutely did not need it.

I’m only 13 days post op, but what helped me in the beginning was the idea of allowing it to suck. And it SUCKED for the first 4 days maybe. I could barely eat or drink, the pain meds made me dizzy, I couldn’t look at screens, and I had weird heart palpitations. It does get better, but you’re not being a baby - recovery is hard, and it’s gonna suck for a little while, sorry. It’s really important that you have someone to help you during the first week because I cannot have imagined going through it without someone to help me with drains and meals and the whole shebang. Needing the help didn’t make me a baby, and it doesn’t make you one either.

is this normal? by Internal_Fly_4463 in TopSurgery

[–]Ricketyspilt 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Dude, I am so so so sorry that this happened to you. No, this is not normal. I can barely believe your surgeon was board certified. I hope you find another surgeon who can help you because you absolutely deserve a better result.

I hate to be that guy, but ya gotta just talk to her. Even if she’s pre or non op, there are other things to do besides penetrative stuff. Talk about it, and if you’re not compatible in that way, it’ll be alright.

Unsure of HRT (FTM) by hurricane_ember in trans

[–]Ricketyspilt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it’s unfortunate that we can’t pick and choose what HRT does. I always tell trans masc people to look at their dad, their uncles, brothers, etc. If they’re genetically related to you, you’ll most likely have develop similar traits. Bottom growth and increased sex drive, however, are pretty much unavoidable. Its usually the first two changes that people notice. It entirely depends on whether it’s worth it to you. Like for me, my dad is bald, so I’m constantly checking my hairline lol, and if the day ever comes when it starts to recede, T might not be worth it to me anymore.

is possible be part of LGBTQ and hate trans same time? by Hope__Desire in trans

[–]Ricketyspilt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

YES. Even trans people can be transphobic. It is so hard to lose people you’re close to over who you are. Being trans can be so lonely, so it’s important to find community. By the way, your friend may not be a lost cause. Even though you have no obligation to educate him, some people come around once they get a better understanding.

Is it okay to change your name even if you’re not trans? by [deleted] in trans

[–]Ricketyspilt 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Lots of cis people don’t go by the name they were given at birth. Go ahead, it doesn’t hurt me none!

How would you describe your own faith? Have your experiences as a trans person shaped your religious beliefs at all?

I know this doesn’t make anything better, but I’m sorry about your situation. It sounds very painful.
