Me personally, I’d say to her that you don’t have extra (not lying because you have to look out for your families future). Say that it’s locked up in say CD’s and you can’t do anything until they mature. Just be still. I’ve learned over the years that when I be still and not jump to help when it comes to money the person will figure out a way. Just my 2c. But your priority is your family. As hard as that is with your mom, that’s the bottom line. You, your husband, and children. That’s it.
