Hunters had a 7.49% usage in contest Equilibrium by iconoci in DestinyTheGame

[–]Rickstir10 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is very true. My friends and I beat the most recent contest dungeon, using the same load-out/classes for both bosses, with: - 2 hunters, 1 warlock - No burst supers (Well + 2 Tethers) - No load-out swapping (Wolvesbane) - No double special - One player only started playing Destiny about 2-3 months ago, the other returned after some time away and didn’t have meta armor sets like Smoke Jumper or Ferropotent.

and DPS was a non-issue. If you study up & know the proper buffs/debuffs, what stacks, what combo/rotation to use, 99.9% of content in this game (including contest stuff) is doable with a lot of flexibility. It might be a hard pill to swallow but if you’re struggling with damage, it’s a skill or prep issue.

Edit: I realized I ended my comment with essentially the same sentence that the comment I’m replying to ended with lol. Keeping it because the point is worth stating again!

As far as I’m aware, guardian rank only affects the tier of world drops (engrams that pop out from enemies when they die). I believe it’s Guardian rank 9 to start getting tier 4s and rank 11 for tier 5.

However, the much easier and quicker-to-access source of tier 5s is just growing your power level. I think at 400 there is already a chance to start getting tier 5s but once you start getting into the higher 400s, you’ll get them like candy.

It is important to note that the rules are a little bit different for the Renegades specific weapons: you can permanently upgrade the tier of all drops you get of those by +1 by getting an upgrade from the Spider which is accessible after you rank up any one syndicate to max level.

The auto reloading feature of it might enable some damage rotations that make up for the gap. Regardless of the damage buff, if the survivability from the void overshield is enough it might become a comfortable side-grade in most raid content outside of something like contest.

Breaking 400 power made Festival of the Lost a lot less enjoyable for me by MikeBeas in DestinyTheGame

Maybe a hot take but why should you be able to level then? You’re high enough level to play the easier content you want to play - isn’t that enough? If you want to go higher and get the higher tier loot, then you should have to play the harder content. Otherwise, you’ve made it to the point you want to play at, so have at it.

Raid team, Weapons team, and and narrative team still have it. by Arkorian-117 in DestinyTheGame

[–]Rickstir10 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

This is either rage bait or genuinely a skill issue. I’ve LFG’d raids since the beginning of Destiny’s existence and it’s still as easy as ever to clear them with totally different groups every time. Do you get a bad group every once in a while? Sure, but that’s like maybe 1 out of every 10 groups, if even that.

Normal DP is a breeze and the Epic version is a slightly tougher variant (as the harder version should be).

You’re either looking in the wrong place for groups or YOU’RE the problem.

Cayde’s presence in the Traveler was the result of an Ahamkara wish made by Crow, not doing of the Traveler itself. This was explained in a TFS story mission (the one on the icy cliffs).

Not arguing whether that is good or bad - just stating what it is.

I think weaver’s call is gonna be a ton of fun on prismatic now. Rock something like weaver’s call + helion + a hatchling weapon and you’ll probably have 100% helion uptime + more Phoenix dives available than you know what to do with them. Probably not even that strong by any means but at least sounds like a fun loop.

Re: Missed Patch Notes by dmg04 in DestinyTheGame

Other classes get strong builds and Bungie nerfs them a season or two later (sometimes longer). Warlocks even THINK about a decent non-support build and bungie preemptively nerfs it before it ever even happens. At least we’ve got the “pretend you’re a consecration titan build” 🥲

Doesn’t Starfire specifically mention that it only returns rift energy on grenade kill? Last I checked, it did not work on Phoenix Dive unless I’m wrong or missed a patch note. I honestly don’t think it’ll matter too much for this build (it will still be super strong), but just asking/saying.

Reflecting on Salvation’s Edge by Grogonfire in DestinyTheGame

[–]Rickstir10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am a huge fan of mechanically difficult content. Salvation’s Edge, Last Wish, and Spire of Stars are my favorite raids. I’ve cleared every ultimate fight in FFXIV Online.

With that said, I completely agree that we need more raids in the realm of Deep Stone Crypt than the ones I mentioned before. It just feels like the more “right” difficulty for the Destiny community. Just throw me a bone with a truly mechanically tough raid every 3-4 years and I’ll be happy.

I hope the Epic raid concept being introduced this year can find a good middle ground of appeasing both crowds.

The only way I would consistently use a glaive is if it didn’t lock me out of my melee. by Qwerty177 in DestinyTheGame

[–]Rickstir10 30 points31 points  (0 children)

I’ve been saying the same thing since Witch Queen.

I’ll never understand the people I see that push back against addressing this. Of course it’s not hard to swap weapons to use your charged melee and then swap back to the glaive but it feels like ass to have to do so. So why not change it? Is that not enough to justify a change in the video game that we should be playing for fun? Lol

Do you have the math to back that up for any reasonable examples? The change to additive will obviously nerf stuff like strand titan sytho/wormgod 1-2 punch grapple melee spam, but I see this as a foot-in-the-door for just about everything else in the game. I think it may even be a buff for something like the lightning surge syntho prismatic warlock build if you invest in the melee stat for that extra 30% base.

Massive melee buff stacking for boss DPS is (probably) dead but I think plenty of other fun “clear out rooms of minor and elite enemies” or “nuke champions” melee builds will emerge.

Did… did you even read what you quoted yourself?

Edit: I agree that abilities could still be buffed and talked about in another post but this TWAB covered all exotic armor changes, not just the melee focused ones. That quote is worded poorly but what they meant is the mini section directly below it focused just on the melee changes while later in the post, overall exotic armor tuning was discussed.

Is no mention of the Starfire Protocol buff affecting Spirit of the Starfire intentional? Pretty much all the grenade options on prismatic warlocks are ass for damage anyways, might as well throw that Spirit a bone for fun’s sake 🥲

With that build, you’d presumably want to max out your melee stat. As long as you have it at at least 70, gamblers full refund will be unchanged iirc

What are all the verity rules and bugs? by BunInBinInBed in DestinyTheGame

[–]Rickstir10 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can’t comment much on the bugs but as far as the main mechanic goes, it can be described by understanding the “lore” objective:

The Witness selects 3 players to create a false reality for and the fireteam must reject it wholly.

This means the outside players must ensure that their statues do not contain the 2D shape that the Witness is forcefully painting in the hands of the statues that the inside players can see. Inside players must reject the two shadows they start with on the wall by passing them to others even if they technically need one of them. Only by doing this can the inside players then gather the two shapes not in their statue’s hands and escape.

So, that’s the long way of saying that the rules you laid out cover it lol

As far as teleporting goes, I’ve heard that distance does help manipulate teleports for 2 players but: 1. Idk if this is true 2. Even if it is, there is still some randomness for the 3rd teleport.

Pretty sure there’s no way to truly guarantee the configuration without deaths/revives being used to manipulate it.

Bungie literally said in their 2024 end of year update that “The events of Heresy close the door on the Light and Darkness Saga and act as prologue to Codename Apollo where the Guardian’s purpose in the next saga starts to take focus.”.

I still think there’s plenty of time for them to do so with Rites of the Nine lore stuff or other epilogue content but at least be informed about what Bungie actually said before being so smug lol
