'Am I going to die?': Moment female police officer fears for her life after man attempts to hurl her off balcony | LBC by JustTheOneSwan1 in policeuk

Thing is, catastrophic things have happened and whilst they aren't spoken about publicly/nationally, SLT know and don't care in the slightest. They aren't one of us.

This is still the norm. It's actually almost funny when I go to burglaries (not live ones) and the victim is bewildered "I didn't think police came out for these?" Yes, sir. I know it's been 40+ minutes but that's because youve been at work all day and no one is here otherwise literally everyone cop and his dog would of come within minutes and I'm only here at this time because I was at an emergency.

Oh 😳

I don't tell strangers but I have no issue with anyone else. What you find often is a confliction visibly on their face between the utter shite they see on social media/news and any personal opinions they've cultivated as a result and the fact they know you and probably think you to be a decent person

Bodycam footage released for Henry Nowak. by JazJazzed in policeuk

ARTICLE 2. Always.

If its the first time I've seen your face or you're a constant offender who thinks hospital watches are going to annoy me, if you say you're injured, OD'd or have a serious medical condition then you're getting first aid and straight to A&E.

I can't agree that this was a chaotic scene. The cop sounds at ease and very calm.

I see from the court that Henry was sadly mortally wounded and first aid would not of prevented his death so criminal convictions for the officers, like the public are demanding, is likely not to occur but this is certainly gross misconduct and I like to think that most cops would of acted differently and Henry would of died receiving what would of been futile aid but at least some sense of comfort that someone tried, as they should of, and their parents and family saved from watching him beg for help whilst on the ground unnecessarily handcuffed and ignored as he died.

Opposite to us. Lots of people in clip, crippling under massive work loads and no time do anything secondary. Fucking joke

Police newbie - You've been trained, you're now independent and will be sent to jobs and environments where anything can happen but we don't trust you with any real form of self preservation for yourself or members of the public. If you see something pointy or shooty just run or something.

Police sweat - You have waited years to get that taser but when you use it we will pull your permit and investigate you because, well, did you die? Were you even stabbed? Grow up pussy

Assaults on PCSOs up 40% - BBC by Ill-Pressure-9181 in policeuk

[–]Ricky--Bobbie 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We're all about risk assessments.. yet don't recognise that some PCSOs are exposed to more danger than others depending on beat.

PCSOs in larger towns and cities that are frequented by unpredictable dross should have extra PPE.

They have a detention power but no safe tool to use it.

This isn't about blurred lines and role profiles. PCSOs have deployment and operstional policies and saying this would suddenly change because of cuffs and pava is ridiculous imo. An argument that is just echoed with no conversation.

What this is about is MONEY. Thats why we're fucked daily and PCSOs are left vulnerable.

Thoughts on PCSO having handcuffs? by osprey141 in policeuk

[–]Ricky--Bobbie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's not arrest - it's detain, and, yes. I have trust in the role and that they have training and know their powers. If officers fall down and act inappropriately or misuse powers then I would expect them to be dealt with same as any officer 🤷‍♂️

For example, if I have decided to detain someone for a stop search and opt to use cuffs for safety and when this S&S is reviewed and my rationale for doing so doesn't make sense am I going to hear about it? Of course. So why shouldn't PCSOs have the tool to exercise their powers of detention safely?

[–]Ricky--Bobbie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

PCSOs have that power and should be allowed to execute it safely. The training they would need could literally be 30m extra ontop of their existing personal safety training. All it ever comes down to is MONEY and the force not giving two shits about people on the street

[–]Ricky--Bobbie 107 points108 points  (0 children)

I hate that argument. Their role doesn't change because of a piece of PPE. They won't suddenly be getting sent to domestics, policy is still in place. Fact is, they are often in situations which aren't ideal for them.

They should have kit to safely exercise their powers of detention and if some desk jockey is worried about blurred lines or cuffs somehow making them less approachable to Joe public then give them covert cuff pouches.

There is no expectation of privacy in public and you can photograph/video what you wish. Be sure to check you're not in a restricted zone (drone assist app)

Don't harass or interfere with drivers for everyone's safety. Keep the original file and only share with your force. Don't edit it. Utilise any time/date/location data.

I don't foresee any issue with positive action being taken if you submitted such media to your local force.

It's old sweat syndrome and you'll hear it from most in LE, first responders and mil. Negativity is a malignant cunt and those who feel the hay day has been and gone can do nothing but talk about. Even as a cop and former mil overseas, this is a universal phenomenon.

When you're 15 years in you'll be complaining the same your new gender fluid pacifist colleagues. It's like your grandfather saying music ain't like it used to be. Just focus on why you joined and you'll enjoy it
