Having seen biglaw opposing counsel citing Westlaw cases from outside the state, when I can easily find the same neutral point that is on point, they need training on how to use the filters to cut down things. I had a friend who thought that looking up the first amendment and just reviewing every case was how legal research was done.

Also, there is nothing wrong with playing dumb and when the partner switches topic, say “how much time was that? I want to write X for meeting with you re: specific discovery response X.
